Ole Miss Men’s Basketball lands JMU Transfer Forward Christian Brown
OXFORD, Miss. –Â James Madison forward Christian Brown has committed to the Ole Miss Rebels after his freshman season with the Dukes. In his first season, the six-foot-eight, 233-pound forward averaged three points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game.
This past season, Brown played in 33 games, averaging around 13 minutes per game. He was not known for scoring, but more so for his dominant defensive presence on the court. He immediately made a splash as an elite rim protector with seven blocks in his first game against Akron to start the season.
Brown recorded a record-breaking 49 blocks in his freshman season at JMU, surpassing the previous JMU freshman block leader, Andre Nation (47). His dominant presence in the post led him to snatch 13 rebounds against Troy, a career high for Brown.
He brings defensive stability to the lineup, and his court activity makes him a great defensive addition to Chris Beard’s squad for the upcoming season. Brown is a great rotational piece who can be crucial during defensive possessions. He will be entering his sophomore season with the Rebels and has a chance to develop more on the scoring side of the ball, along with further improvements on defense. Look for him to be a dangerous threat to any Rebel opponent this upcoming season.
