Former Ole Miss Center Dwayne Curtis Named to 2024 SEC Men’s Basketball Legends Class

OXFORD, Miss. – (Release) The Southeastern Conference announced the selections for the 2024 class of SEC Men’s Basketball Legends Presented by Allstate on Wednesday, with Ole Miss alumni Dwayne Curtis earning the honor. The class will be honored at the 2024 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament in Nashville, Tenn., which takes place March 13-17 at Bridgestone Arena.

One of 42 student-athletes to score 1,000 career points at Ole Miss, Curtis is one of just 13 to do so in three years or less. Following one season at Auburn, the Chicago native joined the Ole Miss program in 2005, leading the team in scoring (13.6 points per game) and rebounding (7.6 per game) in his first year.

Curtis would lead the Rebels in rebounding each of his three seasons in Oxford and helped guide the team to a 2007 SEC West Championship. He finished with the highest career field-goal percentage in school history, a record he still holds at 58.4 percent.

He was a Coaches’ All-SEC Second Team and AP All-SEC Second Team selection in 2008 and earned all-conference honorable mention honors from the AP in 2006. Curtis was named to the NABC All-District Second Team in both 2006 and 2008. Off the court, his efforts in the community were recognized by the conference, as he was selected to the 2008 SEC Community Service Team.

Each legend will be recognized during halftime of their team’s first game of the tournament, as well as a group introduction at halftime of the first semifinal game on Saturday.
