The 6-foot-11, 218-pound sophomore spent his last season with the Sun Devils. He averaged 8.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. He led the team in rebounding and averaged around 25 minutes a game. Before his previous stop at San Diego, Trouet competed in the U19 Cup for Argentina, where he averaged nine points, seven rebounds, and one block per game.
What does he bring to Ole Miss basketball?
The most noticeable thing is his tremendous size, which past Chris Beard teams have often lacked. Trouet’s presence helps stabilize the offense. He moves the ball effectively, sets strong screens, and plays consistently within the structure.
With his size comes efficiency in the interior on offense as well. Trouet scores primarily at the rim—off cuts, put-backs, and as a roll man in pick-and-roll situations. He also makes an impact on the glass, averaging 2.4 offensive rebounds per game last season, using both his size and motor to create extra possessions.
Defensively, Trouet brings versatility as well. A dominant interior presence with size who can guard traditional big men and even some stretch forwards. He provides interior presence and occasional rim protection. This makes him reliable on the defensive end of the court.
Trouet has made huge strides in his collegiate career so far. His transition from playing in the WCC at San Diego to the Big 12 at Arizona State has shown he can adapt and play at a higher level. The growth he has shown bodes well for his development in Oxford.
With some more improvements on the offensive side of the ball during the offseason, Trouet has the potential to be a main contributor on the court for the Rebels this upcoming season.
