Ole Miss Set for Early-Season Test at 2027 Amegy Bank College Baseball Series

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss will once again challenge itself against elite competition early in the 2027 season.

Event organizers announced on June 23 that the Rebels will participate in the 2027 Amegy Bank College Baseball Series, scheduled for March 5-7 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, the home of Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers.

Ole Miss will be joined in the prestigious event by SEC rival Mississippi State, perennial postseason contender Dallas Baptist, Big Ten member Penn State, and national powers UCLA and Wake Forest. Game matchups and start times will be released at a later date.

The annual tournament has become one of college baseball’s premier early-season showcases, routinely featuring some of the nation’s top programs and providing teams with the opportunity to test themselves against high-level competition before conference play begins.

For Ole Miss, the event will serve as another measuring stick as the Rebels look to build on a successful 2026 campaign that culminated with a return trip to Omaha.

After navigating one of the nation’s toughest schedules, Ole Miss advanced through the postseason by winning the Lincoln Regional before traveling to Auburn and sweeping the Tigers in the Super Regional to secure a berth in the College World Series. The Rebels ultimately finished the season ranked among the nation’s top teams after their postseason run.

The 2027 tournament field offers no shortage of challenges.

Wake Forest has established itself as one of college baseball’s premier programs in recent years, while UCLA remains one of the sport’s most recognizable brands. Dallas Baptist has become a consistent postseason participant and one of the most respected mid-major programs in the country. Mississippi State provides a familiar SEC rival, and Penn State continues to build momentum within the Big Ten.

Playing in a neutral-site environment at Globe Life Field also provides a postseason-like atmosphere that many coaches value as preparation for the NCAA Tournament.

The announcement adds another marquee event to what is expected to be a demanding schedule for Mike Bianco’s club. While the Rebels will feature a different look roster after the departures of several key veterans and the addition of numerous transfer portal newcomers, the opportunity to compete against a high-caliber field should provide an early indication of where Ole Miss stands entering SEC play.

With matchups still to be announced, Ole Miss fans will have to wait a little longer to learn exactly who the Rebels will face. What is already clear, however, is that another significant early-season challenge awaits in Arlington.

And if recent history is any indication, Ole Miss won’t shy away from it.
