Berry chose Ole Miss over Alabama, Kentucky, and Colorado, ending one of Mississippi’s most closely watched recruitments and giving offensive line coach John Garrison another cornerstone piece for the future of the Rebels’ offensive front.
The Tupelo standout has long been considered one of the state’s premier prospects regardless of position. Ranked as the No. 4 overall player in the state of Mississippi and the No. 6 interior offensive lineman in the nation, Berry entered the recruiting process with offers from many of college football’s biggest programs and quickly became a priority target for Ole Miss.
In the end, the Rebels successfully kept one of Mississippi’s best players home.
For Ole Miss, the commitment represents another significant recruiting victory in a class that continues to gain momentum. Berry joins an already impressive collection of blue-chip talent and gives the Rebels another highly regarded prospect at one of the most important positions on the field.
The Fit in the ‘Sip
What makes Berry such a coveted addition is his rare blend of size, athleticism, and physicality. At over 300 pounds, he possesses the strength to move defenders off the ball while also showing the footwork and mobility necessary to excel in today’s game.
Berry is equally comfortable creating running lanes in the ground game and anchoring in pass protection, where his balance and lateral quickness consistently show up on film. He plays with a nasty streak that offensive line coaches love, finishing blocks and competing through the whistle. Add in his ability to potentially play multiple positions along the interior offensive line, and it becomes easy to understand why programs across the country made him a priority.
Fending off competitors
The recruitment was anything but straightforward.
At various points over the last year, Alabama appeared to have significant momentum. Kentucky also emerged as a serious contender after making a strong impression during the official visit process, while Colorado remained firmly involved throughout the race.
Yet despite the competition, Ole Miss never stopped pushing for the talented Berry.
The Rebels emphasized the opportunity to stay close to home, compete at the highest level in the SEC, and develop under a coaching staff that has made building the trenches a priority. That message ultimately resonated with one of the state’s most sought-after prospects.
Berry’s commitment also serves as another major victory for Garrison, who continues to establish himself as one of the SEC’s most effective recruiters along the offensive line. Landing a player of Berry’s caliber strengthens an already impressive foundation and further solidifies the future of the Rebels’ offensive front.
If Ole Miss is able to continue building around prospects of Berry’s caliber, the Rebels could be assembling one of the strongest offensive line groups in the country for the 2027 cycle.
That matters.
Championship-caliber teams in the SEC are built from the inside out, and Berry has the talent and upside to become the type of player who anchors a unit for years to come.
Sharks are feeding
Berry’s commitment also reflects the continued growth of Ole Miss on the recruiting trail.
Pete Golding’s Rebels have steadily increased their blue-chip talent acquisition and have become increasingly successful in head-to-head battles against some of the nation’s most recognizable programs. Winning a recruitment that included Alabama, Kentucky, and Colorado is another example of the program’s growing ability to compete for elite talent.
There is still plenty of work left to do in the 2027 class, but Wednesday’s announcement marked another important step forward.
Ole Miss landed one of Mississippi’s top prospects, strengthened a position of critical importance, and added another building block for the future. For the Rebels, keeping Antonio Berry home may prove to be one of the biggest recruiting wins of the cycle.
