Rebels Stay Hot: Ole Miss Rolls Southern Miss 10-3 for Sixth Straight Win

PEARL, Miss. — Ole Miss kept its momentum rolling Tuesday night, taking control early and never looking back in a 10-3 win over Southern Miss at Trustmark Park.

With the victory, the Rebels pushed their win streak to six games and moved to 27-11 on the season, while also splitting the season series with the Golden Eagles.

Rebels Break It Open Early

After a quiet start, Ole Miss flipped the game in a hurry in the third inning.

The Rebels sent a message with a five-run frame, capitalizing on traffic on the bases and timely hitting. Cannon Goldin delivered the biggest swing of the inning, driving in two runs with a base hit that helped create early separation.

From there, Ole Miss never let Southern Miss settle in.

An inning later, Tristan Bissetta added to the lead with a solo home run, continuing what has been a scorching stretch at the plate for the Rebels’ slugger.

Bats Stay Hot

Ole Miss’ offense stayed aggressive throughout the night, consistently putting pressure on a Southern Miss pitching staff that has been one of the better units in non-conference play.

Bissetta turned in one of his best performances of the season, finishing 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, and two RBIs while crossing the plate three times.

Will Furniss delivered the knockout blow in the sixth.

After Southern Miss finally broke through with its first run of the game in the top half of the inning, the Rebels answered immediately. Furniss cleared the bases with a three-run double, highlighting a four-run response that pushed the game out of reach.

Ole Miss continued to show efficiency in key moments, consistently cashing in when opportunities presented themselves and maintaining control of the game from start to finish.

Pitching Depth on Display

While the offense grabbed headlines, Ole Miss’ pitching staff quietly put together another strong collective effort.

Seven different arms combined to hold Southern Miss to just three runs, limiting big innings and keeping the Golden Eagles from mounting any real comeback.

Starter JP Robertson set the tone early, tossing three scoreless innings while racking up five strikeouts. Landon Koenig followed with two clean frames to earn the win, and the bullpen handled the rest with composure.

Across the board, the Rebels pounded the strike zone, avoided free passes, and kept hitters off balance — a formula that has become a trend during this winning streak.

A Win That Matters

Beyond extending the streak, Tuesday’s result carries weight.

Southern Miss entered the night with one of the strongest non-conference profiles in the country, making this a valuable addition to Ole Miss’ postseason résumé. It’s the kind of win that could pay dividends down the road when tournament positioning comes into play.

Up Next

Ole Miss now turns its attention back to SEC play, heading to Tennessee for a three-game series beginning Friday.

If the Rebels continue to swing the bats the way they have over the last week — and pair it with this kind of pitching depth — they’ll carry plenty of confidence into Knoxville.
