Ole Miss Adds Veteran Arm as Jacksonville State’s Eli Pillsbury Commits to Rebels
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss continues to replenish its pitching staff through the transfer portal, and the latest addition brings both experience and production to Oxford.
Jacksonville State left-handed pitcher Eli Pillsbury has committed to the Rebels, giving head coach Mike Bianco and pitching coach Joel Mangrum another veteran arm as they continue reshaping the roster following the program’s run to the College World Series.

Pillsbury arrives at Ole Miss after serving as a key piece of Jacksonville State’s pitching staff during the 2026 season. The senior logged 77 innings while posting a 4.07 ERA and compiling an impressive 89-to-29 strikeout-to-walk ratio. His fastball is up to 93 mph.
The numbers suggest a pitcher capable of handling a significant workload while consistently generating swings and misses. His nearly three-to-one strikeout-to-walk ratio also points to a level of command that should translate well as he makes the jump to the Southeastern Conference.
At a time when Ole Miss is expected to lose a substantial portion of its pitching staff to professional baseball, additions like Pillsbury become increasingly important.
Cade Townsend, Taylor Rabe, Hudson Calhoun, Wil Libbert, and Landon Koenig all received invitations to the MLB Draft Combine, and several members of that group are expected to hear their names called during next month’s MLB Draft.
With that potential turnover looming, Mangrum has been aggressive in adding experienced arms capable of competing for innings immediately.
Pillsbury joins a growing list of newcomers that already includes transfer pitchers Mavrick Rizy, Brent Stukes, and Charlie Willcox as Ole Miss works to rebuild both its rotation and bullpen heading into 2027.
While his exact role remains to be determined, Pillsbury’s durability stands out. Logging 77 innings in a season demonstrates the ability to handle extended outings, which could make him a candidate for either a starting role or a valuable multi-inning option out of the bullpen.
For a Rebels staff preparing to replace significant production on the mound, experience matters. Pillsbury arrives in Oxford having already proven he can navigate a full college season, attack hitters consistently, and miss bats at a high rate.
As Ole Miss turns the page from Omaha and begins building toward next season, the addition of Pillsbury provides another important piece for a pitching staff that could look dramatically different when the Rebels take the field next spring.
