Ole Miss Baseball Stays Perfect in NCAA Tournament; Rebels Clinch First Super Regionals Appearance Since 2022
The Ole Miss Rebels’ run at perfection continues on with a thrilling 5-4, extra-innings walk-off win Sunday over the Arizona State Sun Devils to win the Lincoln Regional and clinch their first Super Regionals Appearance since 2022.

The hero at the end for Ole Miss was second baseman Dom Decker, who skied a walk-off sacrifice fly into left field, his second of the night, to give the Rebels the win. He finished with 2 RBIs — and a mosh pit.
Ole Miss starter Cade Townsend did not have his best outing of the season, but pushed his limits going up to 115 pitches through 5.0+ innings pitched, allowing 6 hits, 5 walks, 4 runs, 3 earned, and 7 strikeouts. Townsend, however, kept Ole Miss in the game, limiting some potentially big innings. He exited with Ole Miss down 4-3.
Arizona State got on the board immediately in the first inning behind leadoff batter Dean Toigo who crushed an up-and-away fastball the other way for a home run.
Ole Miss was looking for a response in the bottom of the frame as Judd Utermark stood on second following a one-out double; however, the Rebels could not convert and it remained 1-0 ASU after one.
The Sun Devils struck again in the second, when Toigo roped another ball, this time to right, with the bases loaded. While the Rebels’ right fielder Tristan Bissetta was under it, the ball bounced out of his glove, allowing two runs to come across as ASU took a 3-0 lead.
The Rebels put themselves on the board in the bottom of the second when they loaded the bases and Brayden Randle delivered an RBI single into right field, and Dom Decker rocked a sacrifice fly into left, making it 3-2 in favor of ASU.
It would stay a one-run game until the following inning when Bissetta sent a fly ball of his own out of the yard for a leadoff home run to begin the bottom of the third. The game was tied 3-3.

Later in the third, Ole Miss got another single from Randle with a RISP, but after a late send, Hayden Federico was called out at home. Despite the close play, after review, the call stood for the second out of the inning, which was followed by a strikeout that closed the frame with the game still tied at 3-3.
That ended Sun Devils’ starter Colin Linder’s day after just two innings pitched, where he allowed 4 hits, 3 runs, all earned, 3 walks, and tallied just 2 strikeouts. The Sun Devils turned to Alex Overbay out of the bullpen after Linder’s night was cut short.
Ole Miss issued another challenge in the the top of the fourth when a play at the plate was ruled in favor of Arizona State to give them the lead, but after review, the call was overturned, keeping the game tied. But that would not last long, as a wild pitch allowed shortstop PJ Moutzouridis to rush home and give ASU a 4-3 lead.
After the fifth, Townsend’s night looked done, but that was not the case until a lead-off walk in the sixth brought in Wil Libbert from the bullpen. Libbert proceeded to throw a scoreless inning, keeping Ole Miss down just one.
In the bottom of the frame, Overbay concluded his outing after 3.1 innings pitched, allowing 1 hit and 3 walks, picking up 5 strikeouts. He exited with an Ole Miss runner on third base, one out, and the top of the Rebels’ batting order coming up.
Sean Fitzpatrick, a left-handed reliever, worked out of it, however, producing a strikeout, an intentional walk to get to a lefty, and a hard-hit lineout, keeping the Sun Devils ahead 4-3, alongside closing Overbay’s scoreless line.
In the seventh, Ole Miss catcher Austin Fawley notched his first hit of the postseason in a timely manner, roping a line drive off the wall for a two-out RBI double, tying the game 4-4.

Both sides would fizzle out offensively in the eighth, with each side going down in order, sending the game to the ninth all knotted up.
Ole Miss sent JP Robertson to the mound for the ninth. The hard-throwing right-hander had a good outing against Nebraska the night prior and looked to keep the game tied in the regional final. Following a leadoff walk, ASU sacrificed the runner to second, but Robertson produced two groundouts to short, keeping the game tied going into the bottom of the ninth.
Eli Buxton, who entered in the seventh, returned for the ninth on the mound for ASU. Buxton kept his great outing alive, sitting down Ole Miss 1-2-3 for the second straight inning and forcing extra innings for the second time in the regional.
Robertson picked up two more strikeouts in the tenth and kept the go-ahead run at first, giving Ole Miss another chance to end it.

Arizona State turned to Derek Schaefer out of the pen for the tenth to face the bottom of the Ole Miss lineup. Schaefer started the inning with a strikeout, but a walk to Collin Reuter proved costly and Cannon Goldin came in to pinch run.
Luke Romine then came in to pinch hit, and Goldin got to second on a wild pitch. Romine promptly sent a single up the middle that allowed Goldin to get to third. Next up came Decker who walked it off with the sacrifice fly that sends Ole Miss to the Super Regionals.
