Rebel Walk Recruiting High School Game of the Week: Texas Powerhouses Duncanville and DeSoto Set for Clash of Titans

DeSoto, Texas — We are hitting the road to DeSoto, Texas on the recruiting trail to watch one of the biggest rivalries in the Lone Star State. Tonight we are taking in the Duncanville vs. DeSoto game where some of the Rebels’ top prospects will be in action.

It was 1972 when Duncanville and DeSoto first went head to head, and it has turned into THE Texas rivalry game every year. Each of their rosters have made a lasting impact on the high school landscape, and they have gone on to shape not just college programs but also those in the NFL.

Duncanville is currently 4-0 and hits the road as the No.1 team in Texas and No. 4 in the nation. DeSoto stands at 4-1 and ranks as the No. 5 team in Texas and No.14 team in the nation as the two teams head into week 6 of the high school football season.

These two storied teams have combined for nine state championships and have appeared in the playoffs 61 times.Tonight under the lights at Eagle Stadium promises to be THE game of the season when it comes to Texas high school football. And, of course, Ole Miss has eyes on some of the teams’ top talent.

Duncanville

Blue Chip QB Keelon Russell: Ranked No. 10 nationally, No. 3 QB, No. 4 Texas)

Russell may be committed to the Crimson Tide, but he still remains  on the mind of the Rebels. He is ready to meet the road challenge and his stats show that. Russell is 90-of-120 (75%) for 1,437 yards and 21 touchdowns (1 INT), with one rushing touchdown, in the four games of his senior campaign.

Speaking of Zach Turner, he is another prospect the Rebels are eyeing from the Panthers’ roster.
