Ole Miss Softball Signs All-ASUN Slugger Brie Howard as Transfer
OXFORD, Miss. (Release)-The Ole Miss softball program has added a dynamic slugger to next season’s roster, signing outfielder Brie Howard as a transfer.
Howard joins the Rebels after three seasons at Austin Peay and will have one season of eligibility remaining.
A three-time All-ASUN selection, including back-to-back first team honors, Howard leaves Austin Peay as one of its greatest sluggers in program history. After a huge junior season, Howard set the single-season records at Austin Peay in home runs (20), RBI (65) and runs scored (52). Howard started all 54 games for Austin Peay in 2026, hitting .362 while also adding nine doubles and a triple to her 20 home runs.
Howard ranked in the top-40 in the NCAA this past season in home runs and RBI and is one of the top returning hitters in the nation based on last season’s metrics.
Over her career, Howard has hit 36 home runs and tallied 136 RBI while hitting a sizzling .346. Howard finished her Austin Peay tenure in a tie for third on the all-time home run list and solo possession of third on the career RBI list.
Howard joins Lexie Hames as new transfers for head coach Jamie Trachsel and the Rebel softball program. The duo is set to join 11 freshmen as newcomers on next season’s roster.
