Brayden Randle Delivers Walk-Off Winner as Ole Miss Outlasts Arizona State in 14 innings
LINCOLN, Neb. —No. 2 seed Ole Miss defeated the No. 3 seed Arizona State Sun Devils on a walk-off by Brayden Randle in the 14th inning to win 7-6 in the Lincoln Regional.

Ole Miss (37-26, 15-15 SEC) used extra base hits in their opening game of the Lincoln Regional with doubles by Collin Reuter, Will Furniss, and home runs by Judd Utermark and Tristan Bissetta.
Arizona State (37-20, 19-11 Big 12) jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage in the first inning after a leadoff walk to Landon Harriston and three straight hits to Nu’u Contrades, Dean Toigo and Dominic Smaldino.
Ole Miss quickly answered in the home half of the first on a solo home run by Utermark to right-center field. It marked Utermark’s 50th home run of his career as a Rebel.

Ole Miss ace Hunter Elliott settled in after the first inning and only allowed two more runs over the next four innings.
The Sun Devils’ ace Cole Carlon made it difficult for the Ole Miss batters through the first two frames.
Arizona State added to its lead in the third on a solo home run by Contrades to left field as the Sun Devils went up 3-1.
Ole Miss answered with four quick runs in the third on a double by Furniss to right field that scored Tate Sirmans and Dom Decker, which knotted the game at 3-3.

Bissetta then came up and blasted a two-run home run to right that gave the Rebels a 5-3 advantage.

ASU climbed back into the game in the fifth inning on a two-out solo home run by Dean Toigo.
Elliott worked 5.0 complete innings and allowed four runs on six hits with four walks and four strikeouts.`
Coach Mike Bianco made the call to the bullpen for Walker Hooks in the sixth inning. Arizona State knotted the game up in the seventh on a two-run home run by Contrades.
Carlon worked 6.2 innings surrendered six runs on six hits with two walks and nine strikeouts.
The Sun Devils brought Taylor Penn into the game in the seventh, and he worked a 0.1 inning to close out the seventh. In the eighth, Sean Fitzpatrick took the mound, recording an out with two hits before turning the ball over to Derek Schaefer.
Furniss led the Rebels eighth with a base knock to right. Hayden Federico got an infield base hit. Austin Fawley walked and that brought Paino to the dish. Paino went down swinging to end the inning.
Furniss finished the game going 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI.
Arizona State got a leadoff single to open the tenth inning. But Hooks gets out of the frame with a double play and a fly out to right field.
Schaefer worked 1.2 innings with no runs on no hits with two walks and three strikeouts, and Jaden Alba took the bump in the tenth for ASU.
Federico and Brayden Randle got back-to-back infield hits in the tenth with one out; however, Fawley and Owen Paino went down on strikes and the game continued.
Arizona State got on base on a leadoff walk and moved to second on a sac bunt.
Hooks worked 5.1 innings, allowed two runs on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Hudson Calhoun took the mound in the 11th inning for the Rebels. He tossed 3.2 innings, surrendered no runs on one hit, with a walk and three strikeouts.
Ole Miss got a one-out double out of Federico in the 12th inning, and a passed ball moved him to third base. But he was tagged out on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Randle.
Luke Romine walked to open the bottom of the 14th inning. Bissetta walked, and that brought Federico up to the plate. Federico got a base knock that loaded the bases, and Randle delivered the game-winner.
