Ole Miss Lands Big-Time Wing Player, UMBC Transfer Jade Tillman

OXFORD, Miss. —With the transfer portal officially closed, head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin and the Rebels have landed a player who was already in the portal, University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) wing Jade Tillman.

Tillman, a six-foot-one forward from Rockville, MD, is a talented scorer. Last year with the Retrievers, she averaged 15.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. She shot 36.8 percent from the field and 32.8 percent from three.

The junior spent her first two seasons at ECU, where her best season was her sophomore year, where she averaged 2.4 points and 2.2 rebounds.

Obviously, there was a scoring boom this past season, and she showed a lot of improvement. Her three point shooting is what stands out, as she is lethal beyond the arc. She is a very tough and gritty player who isn’t scared of contact. In other words, she has a very high motor.

Defensively, she is perhaps even better. Last season she averaged 1.9 steals and 5.5 defensive rebounds. She is a plus defender who brings versatility because of her size.

What is her role? Well, she can very easily slot in as a three-and-D wing and make a big impact right away. Her versatility is unique with her skillset and that aids her in forcing her way onto the court. Her talent level almost forces you to give her some playing time. Coach Yo has found a hidden gem in the portal and it will be interesting to see how Tillman makes the jump from UMBC to the SEC.
