Chris Beard, Rebels Add Versatile Forward Daniel Patton to 2026 Class

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss men’s basketball continues to add length and versatility to its future roster, securing a commitment from 2026 forward Daniel Patton following his recent visit to Oxford.

Patton, a 6-foot-8 prospect out of Cy Falls High School in Houston, chose the Rebels after drawing interest from several programs, including Houston and Texas. His decision came shortly after an official visit, where the fit with head coach Chris Beard and the program’s direction became clear. He is ranked the No, 23rd overall recruit in Texas.

A Late Rise and Big Production

Patton’s path to this point has included a key move that helped elevate his game.

After beginning his high school career at Centennial High School in Franklin, Tennessee, he transferred to Cy Falls to face stronger competition. The move paid off. Patton played a major role in leading the Eagles to a 30-6 overall record and an undefeated run through district play.

His production this past season was eye-catching. Patton averaged 20 points and nine rebounds per game while also contributing across the board with assists, steals, and blocks. Efficiency was a major part of his success, as he shot 55 percent from the field and nearly 48 percent from beyond the arc.

A Versatile Fit in Oxford

At his size, Patton brings a skill set that fits well with what Ole Miss wants to do on both ends of the floor.

He is comfortable playing inside or stepping out on the perimeter, capable of scoring in a variety of ways. His ability to stretch the floor while also attacking off the dribble gives him matchup advantages against both bigger and smaller defenders.

Defensively, Patton’s length and mobility stand out. He has shown the ability to guard multiple positions and plays with an edge that aligns with the physical identity Beard has emphasized.

That versatility could be especially valuable in Ole Miss’ defensive system, which requires frequent switching and discipline across all five positions.
