Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin trolls the Vols, suggests French’s Mustard as advertiser on Neyland Stadium field

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin trolls the Vols, suggests French’s Mustard as advertiser on Neyland Stadium field

OXFORD — On Thursday, the NCAA announced it will allow commercial sponsor advertisements on football fields for regular-season games in all three divisions, beginning with the 2024 season.

It didn’t take Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin to weigh in on what the Tennessee Volunteers should advertise at Neyland Stadium — you guessed it, mustard.

On X, formerly Twitter, Kiffin quote tweeted an account called ‘thatSECpodcast’ who asked which company should sponsor Tennessee.

Kiffin replied by tagging French’s mustard company and adding an emoji of a golfer.

The post refers to the 2021 game in Knoxville between the Rebels and Vols. The Rebels won that one, 31-26, in wild fashion. Vols fans were not happy with a call in the fourth quarter and began throwing objects onto the field—including French’s mustard bottles and a golf ball.

As Kiffin famously left the field after the victory, a Tennessee fan threw a water bottle at the Rebels’ head coach, which he deftly caught in one hand.

Kiffin continued to poke fun at the situation, even autographing a mustard bottle when asked at the 2022 SEC Media Days.

“I did sign a mustard bottle,” Kiffin said later.

That was the first guy to come up. … I have signed a lot of mustard bottles and golf balls, which normally I haven’t. It’s been a unique offseason. On the golf ball, which goes back to the first pitch I threw out for the Tennessee game, we got swept by Tennessee, didn’t play well. Everybody thought it was my fault.

And let’s not forget — Kiffin used a golf ball as he threw out the first pitch at Swayze in a baseball game between the Rebs and Tennessee in 2022.

Since then, Kiffin has enjoyed trolling Tennessee at every turn, most recently when he posted a golfing emoji on a tweet directed at singer Morgan Wallen, a huge Tennessee fan.

Oh, and there’s also the fact that Kiffin was once the coach of the Vols — for one year — before leaving for his dream job at USC. He left Knoxville with a 7-6 record and let’s just say Vols fans are still a little upset at his departure.
