2024 Ole Miss Men’s Basketball Transfer Portal Tracker

OXFORD, Miss. — The basketball transfer portal season is in full swing, and players across all levels of college basketball have been announcing their intentions to move.

The transfer portal for basketball opened March 18, and the window will close on May 1st. Once an athlete has entered his/her name into the portal, they’re allowed to have contact with other schools and can transfer at any time. Graduate students may enter their names into the portal at any time.

This article will serve as The Rebel Walk’s basketball transfer portal tracker. We are keeping up with all the portal action and will have you covered with time stamps on all the latest recruiting news for the Rebels, so bookmark this page and check back frequently for updates as things begin to move quickly.

April 24

UPDATE Sean Pedulla – COMMITTED TO OLE MISS

As a junior, Pedulla averaged 16.4 PTS | 4.3 REB | 4.6 AST. A crafty guard, Pedulla can use pace and angles to get to the interior. Elevated play in Q1 games as his AST% went from 29.9% to 36.6%. CLICK HERE to read more about Pedulla.

April 23

Javon Small (Oklahoma State) – VISITING OLE MISS APRIL 23

Oklahoma State combo guard Javon Small is on campus in Oxford today, per sources. In 31 games in 2023-24, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound Small averaged 15.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. A lethal scorer at two levels, Small thrives from mid-range and beyond: 65% on long-range 2’s and 38.9% on above the break threes.

Before transferring and playing at Oklahoma State, Small played for East Carolina.

Austin Nunez (Ole Miss) – ENTERED TRANSFER PORTAL

Ole Miss guard Austin Nunez has entered the transfer portal with a “do not contact” tag, per sources. The sophomore averaged 6.7 minutes per game in his lone season in Oxford. A former four-star recruit, Nunez spent his first collegiate season at Arizona State.

UPDATE: Sean Pedulla (Virginia Tech) – Visiting April 21

Ole Miss is hosting Virginia Tech G Sean Pedulla for a visit today  as reported by others. As a junior, Pedulla averaged 16.4 PTS | 4.3 REB | 4.6 AST. A crafty guard, Pedulla can use pace and angles to get to the interior. Elevated play in Q1 games as his AST% went from 29.9% to 36.6%.

Moussa Cisse (Ole Miss) – Entered transfer portal

April 19th

Nikita Konstantynovski (Monmouth)

Ole Miss will have a zoom call with the grad transfer from Monmouth. A 6’10 Center, Konstantynovski spent last season at Monmouth before spending the prior two at Tulsa. This past season Konstantynovski averaged 9.3 PTS and 8.1 REB.

It’s been a winding road for Konstantynovski. His first two years were spent at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M college. During his final year of junior college, Konstantynovski averaged 11.1 PTS and 8.0 rebounds in 21 games. He is a native of Ukraine. Ole Miss will be looking at center as they continue to revamp their front court.

Seydou Traore (Manhattan)

Ole Miss has reached out to the versatile freshman forward. Traore has entered the portal after an impressive freshman season where he earned All-MAAC freshman team honors. On the season, the 6’7 forward averaged 11.8 PTS, 8.2 REB, 2.3 AST, and 2.8 STKs (Steals+Blocks).

Traore has a skillset that allows him to handle the ball, pop out for the three, and create to the basket. With his 215 lb frame he has solid straight line speed, bounce, and physicality to fit into this mismatch role. He can be a jumbo 3 or small ball 4. Manhattan used him as both a ball handler and screener. Other schools to reach out include Georgetown, Temple, Oregon, Minnesota, VCU and many more.

Alijah Martin (FAU) – VISITING OLE MISS APRIL 18th – COMMITTED TO FLORIDA 

Sources have confirmed that 6-foot-2, 210-pound Alijah Martin has been on campus for a visit. The combo guard, a Summit, Mississippi native, helped FAU reach back-to-back NCAA tournaments. In the 2023-24 season, he started in 30 out of 34 games, averaging 13.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game and shooting 41.4 percent from the floor and 33.8 percent from three-point range.

During the 2022-23 season, Martin was an All-Conference USA first-team honoree as the Owls reached the Final Four. That season, he averaged 13.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

April 18th

UPDATE: Jonas Aidoo (Tennessee)

Sources to the Rebel Walk say that schools to monitor for Aidoo are Arkansas, Baylor, North Carolina and Ole Miss. There has been strong ties to North Carolina for Aidoo but Baylor is another team to monitor. It is rumored that he wishes to play for a team looking to compete for a championship.

A former top-50 recruit, Aidoo took major strides becoming a full-time starter for Rick Barnes this season. Starting all 36 games this season, Aidoo averaged 11.4 PTS, 7.3 REB, and 1.8 BLK this past season. His play earned him second team All-SEC honors this season and his 66 blocks was good for the third in the SEC.

UPDATE: Davon Barnes (Sam Houston State) – COMMITTED TO OLE MISS

A second team All-CUSA selection, Davon Barnes played in Texas at both Sam Houston State and Texas Southern. He played his high school ball in the Memphis area at Collierville.

This past season, the 6-foot-5 Barnes led the team in games played (33) and averaged 13.5 points per game, the second most on the team while shooting 39.1 percent from three-point range. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound guard also collected 3.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Sam Houston finished the regular season first in the Conference USA standings, thanks to the help provided by Barnes in his first and only year there.

April 17th

Kris Parker (Alabama)

Ole Miss has contacted Alabama transfer Kris Parker. As a high school prospect in the class of 2023, Parker experienced quite the rise up the recruiting rankings. A 6’8 wing, Parker has tools to be a legit two way threat at the college level. This past season Parker redshirted for the Crimson Tide in a decision by Nate Oats. The Alabama coach wanted him to bulk up.

Parker has the athleticism, length and physicals to play. On the offensive end he is developing especially the jumpshot. He can still find ways to slash and score from multiple levels. Defensively Parker is a playmaker who can impact at the point of attack or by jumping lanes. Tons of schools both big and small have reached out to Parker.

Aidan Mahaney (Saint Mary’s)

Ole Miss has reached out to Aidan Mahaney. The 6’3 guard has a decorated start to his collegiate career. In two seasons for the Gaels, Mahaney has earned two first team All-WAC honors. He’s been listed on the Naismith & Wooden award watch lists this past year as well. This past season Mahaney averaged 13.9 PTS, 2.6 AST, and 2.6 REB.

Mahaney has a great feel for the game. He excels at using angles and decelerating to navigate his way on the court. He projects to be a high-upside shot maker who’s never out of control. Other schools to be interested inlcude Duke, UCONN, Kentucky, Arkansas, Virginia, Villanova and many others.

Yohan Traore (UC Santa Barbara)

A former 5 star center, Traore has reinvented himself out on the west coacst for Joe Pasternack. Traore orginially started his collegiate career at Auburn, where he saw limited playing time in his freshman season. As a sophomore this season Traore averaged 14.5 PTS and 5.1 REB.

Ole Miss has been confirmed to been in contact with the Center. Traore given his prior pedigree and output this season will be in high demand. Other schools to list out include BYU, UCF, SMU, Texas Tech, TCU, Florida, Clemson and more.

UPDATE: Dre Davis (Seton Hall) – COMMITTED TO OLE MISS 

Davis chose Ole Miss after visiting both Oxford and Los Angeles (USC). A priority target for Ole Miss, Davis adds versatility on both ends and experience in a top basketball conference. A senior this past year, Davis entered as a graduate transfer after spending the past two seasons at Seton Hall. Becoming a full-time starter this year, Davis had the best season of his collegiate career to date. He averaged 15.0 PTS, 5.9 REB, and 1.6 AST while also getting 2.2 STKs a game (steals + blocks).

April 16th

Ra’Heim Moss (Toledo) – Top Four Schools

Ole Miss has made the final four teams for Toledo G Ra’Heim Moss. A junior this past season, Moss averaged 15.5 PTS, 5.4 REB, and 3.0 AST this season. He is a 6’4 205 lb guard and native to Springfield, Ohio. His final four also includes Oregon, Ohio State and Texas A&M. So far Moss has a visit scheduled to Oregon this weekend.

April 15th

UPDATE: Dre Davis (Seton Hall) – Visit to Ole Miss Scheduled April 16th

Since entering the portal, Ole Miss has been linked to Seton Hall transfer Dre Davis. Earlier, Davis visited USC but is now scheduled to be visiting Oxford on Tuesday. The news broke from ESPN Senior Writer Pete Thamel. Davis is rumored to be taking a handful of visits but Ole Miss is now in the mix for Davis.

A senior this past year, Davis entered as a graduate transfer after spending the past two seasons at Seton Hall. Becoming a full-time starter this year, Davis had the best season of his collegiate career to date. He averaged 15.0 PTS, 5.9 REB, and 1.6 AST while also getting 2.2 STKs a game (steals + blocks).

Sources tell The Rebel Walk that Ole Miss has been active with Davis. He typically fits the mold of an ideal player for a Chris Beard team and is a name to watch in this portal cycle.

Jonas Aidoo (Tennessee)

It is now confirmed that Ole Miss has contacted Tennessee transfer Jonas Aidoo. A former top-50 recruit, Aidoo took major strides becoming a full-time starter for Rick Barnes this season. Starting all 36 games this season, Aidoo averaged 11.4 PTS, 7.3 REB, and 1.8 BLK this past season. His play earned him second team All-SEC honors this season and his 66 blocks was good for the third in the SEC.

Aidoo will be a major portal target for several teams. The development and stride he took this past year will be appealing for teams who are looking to unlock that next level. Be on the lookout for more developments in this one.

UPDATE: Malik Dia (Belmont) – COMMITTED TO OLE MISS

Dia chose Ole Miss over SMU and Vanderbilt. A recent visit, Ole Miss was able to close the deal and seal the commitment from Dia. He visited SMU during the process, and previously attended Vanderbilt. The 6-9 forward is one of the more intriguing offensive stars in the portal. The sophomore earned All-MVC third team honors for his play this past season. In 23.1 minutes per game, Dia averaged 16.9 PTS and 5.8 REB per game. His usage percentage of 39.3% last season ranks at the top of the NCAA last season.

April 14th

UPDATE: Oumar Ballo (Arizona) – Committed to Indiana

Arguably one of the most coveted players in the transfer portal this cycle, Oumar Ballo is bound for a lot of suitors. Ole Miss decided to get involved and even made a splash in an attempt to lure the 7’0 260 lb center. Ballo transferred to Arizona after spending two years at Gonzaga. He would follow coach Tommy Lloyd there.

In three seasons at Arizona, Ballo was a two time All-PAC-12 First Team honoree. This past season Ballo averaged 12.9 PTS and 10.1 REB with a 65% field goal percentage. Ballo has already lines up visits a few teams including Indiana, Louisville, Kansas State, North Carolina and Florida. Things can always pivot but the visits tell the tale.

April 13th

UPDATE: Noah Reynolds (UW – Green Bay) – COMMITTED TO TCU (4/22)

Ole Miss and Noah Reynolds have cancelled his visit for this weekend. Reynolds visited TCU on Friday. Reynolds was the third-leading scorer in the conference at 20.0 points per game while being second in assists per game at 4.5. He spent the last season at UW – Green Bay. Prior to arriving there, Reynolds spent two seasons at Wyoming.

UPDATE: Mikeal Brown-Jones (UNC-Greensboro) – COMMITTED TO OLE MISS, April 13

Brown-Jones chose Ole Miss over Kansas State and Pitt. After spending his first two seasons at VCU, the 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward has shined in the last two at UNCG. This past season Brown-Jones averaged 18.9 PTS, 7.5 REB, and 1.1 AST. He arrives in Oxford with one year of eligibility remaining.

April 11th

UPDATE: Malik Dia (Belmont) – SET TO VISIT OLE MISS BETWEEN APRIL 10-13

Per sources Ole Miss is set to host the Belmont forward for an official visit between April 10th-13th. If you’re looking for some more information on Dia and the visit take a look at the article HERE. He has already visited SMU.

April 10th

Ezra Ausar (East Carolina)

A 6’9 240-lb. forward, Ausar has entered the transfer portal after two seasons at East Carolina. After the 2022-2023 season, Ausar earned All-American conference freshman honors. As a sophomore, he improved his scoring production after a promising freshman season. His scoring improved to 11.4 points a game, and he also averaged 4.7 rebounds.

Other schools who have reached out to Ezra include: Oklahoma, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and several other high major programs.

Great Osobor (Utah State)

Ole Miss has contacted Utah State transfer Great Osobor. The 6’9, 245-lb forward spent the last season at Utah State after following Danny Sprinkle from Montana State. Last year Osobor took a huge leap as a player, boosting his production in every major category. This past season, Osobor averaged 17.7 PTS, 9.0 REB and 2.7 STKs (steals + blocks). His play this year earned him a spot on the All-MWC First Team, All-MWC Tournament Team, and MWC Player of the Year.

A versatile player, Osobor brings a lot of unique tools to the forward position. He is a smart and willing passer, possesses good timing in rim protection and is a tenacious rebounder on both sides of the ball. Osobor will have plenty of suitors throughout this process. Expect Washington to be the favorite until they’re not, given his loyalty to play for Sprinkle.

April 9th

Pop Isaacs – Texas Tech

Ole Miss has been in touch with Texas Tech star Pop Isaacs. A 6’2 sophomore guard, Isaacs elevated his game this year to average 15.8 PTS, 3.2 REB, and 3.5 AST a game this past season. Isaacs has started 58 of 59 total games as a Red Raider.

Based on the sourcing here, I would say Ole Miss is a team to watch.

April 8th

UPDATE – Sean Pedulla (Virginia Tech)

Ole Miss is in the top-three for Virginia Tech transfer Sean Pedulla. The other two schools are Oklahoma and Creighton. Pedulla has visited Oklahoma and posted that on his Instagram story. The Sooners could be labelled the favorite as it stands.

Ole Miss is amongst the schools to reach out Virginia Tech transfer Sean Pedulla. A 6’1 guard, Pedulla averaged a team-high 16.4 points a game this season while also averaging 4.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists. Pedulla can fill up the stat sheet and even tallied back-to-back 30-point games this season. Many will be in line for a chance to land Pedulla who will be a rising senior next season.

Other schools who have reached out include: Creighton, Oklahoma, Kentucky and several other high major programs. Pedulla grew up in Oklahoma in the town of Edmond. The Sooners are a team to monitor here.

UPDATE – Tony Perkins (Iowa) – COMMITTED TO MISSOURI

Ole Miss has been named in the top six for Iowa transfer Tony Perkins. Other schools in the final six include Missouri, Oregon, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Indiana. Two teams to watch even closer are Missouri and Indiana. Perkins has visited Missouri and after speaking to a source connected to Indiana, the Hoosiers feel confident stating: “Perkins has been in the works for a while.” Take it for what it is, Indiana is also in on Myles Rice from Washington State.

Since entering the transfer portal, Ole Miss is one of the schools to reach out to Iowa’s Tony Perkins. A full-time starter for the Hawkeyes the past two years, Perkins had his most productive season yet. Perkins (6-4 210 lbs) is a graduate transfer and will have one year left of eligibility. Perkins averaged 14.0 PTS, 4.4 REB, and 4.6 AST this past season. A two-way guard Perkins also brings a lot on the defensive end after averaging 1.6 steals per game last year.

Dre Davis – Seton Hall

Ole Miss has reached out to 6’6 wing Dre Davis. A senior this past year, Davis entered as a graduate transfer after spending the past two seasons at Seton Hall. Becoming a full-time starter this year, Davis had the best season of his collegiate career to date. He averaged 15.0 PTS, 5.9 REB, and 1.6 AST while also getting 2.2 STKs a game (steals + blocks).

Javon Small (Oklahoma State)

Ole Miss has reached out to Oklahoma State transfer Javon Small. The 6’2 junior guard averaged 15.1 PTS, 4.7 REB and 4.1 AST this season, which was his first in Stillwater. Small transferred to Oklahoma State after spending his first two seasons at East Carolina. He became a full-time starter in his sophomore season and that carried over to his time at Oklahoma State.

Small has taken strides as a scorer but has improved as a shooter each season in college. His FG% jumped to 44.1% while he posted career highs in 2P% (50.3%) and 3PT% (37.4%). Other schools to reach out include Kansas, Louisville, Michigan, Texas and a ton of other high major programs.

Casey Jones (Eastern Washington)

A familiar name to Ole Miss this season is Casey Jones. The Rebels coaching staff has reached out to Jones of Eastern Washington. Earlier in this past season, Ole Miss took down Eastern Washington in Oxford. In that game, Jones finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds.

A 6’6 210 lb forward, Jones averaged 12.6 PTS, and 4.4 REB this season. His play earned him honors on the All-Big Sky second team. He also earned Big Sky All-Defense honors. Others to reach out include Stanford, Cal, Washington State, Grand Canyon, Utah, and Richmond.

April 7th

Micah Peavy (TCU) – COMMITTED TO GEORGETOWN

A familiar name to those who have followed Chris Beard’s career, Micah Peavy started his career at Texas Tech playing for Beard. After his freshman season, Peavy transferred to TCU to play for Jamie Dixon. He would remain there for the next three seasons. This past season, as a senior, Peavy averaged 10.9 PTS, 4.9 REB, and 2.6 AST in his first season as a full time starter at TCU.

Peavy was a former top-50 recruit in the class of 2020. He played at Duncanville High School in Texas where Beard has a big connection. Beard has recruited players such as Ron Holland, Cameron Barnes and Peavy all from Duncanville. At Texas Tech, Peavy started 25 of 29 games as a freshman for Beard.

Since entering the portal, Peavy has heard from schools such as Houston, Kansas, Cal, USC, SMU, Arkansas, UCLA and more. Ole Miss is in the mix for Peavy but keep an eye on Georgetown here as well.

April 6th

Filip Borovicanin (Arizona)

Ole Miss is one of the initial schools to reach out to Arizona transfer Filip Borovicanin. Others involved include Utah State, Cal, and Kansas State. A sophomore this past season, Borovicanin was a reserve player for the Wildcats. He appeared in 20 games this season while only averaging 5.6 minutes per game.

Despite limited time on the court, many are intrigued by the potential of Borovicanin. At 6’9, he was a major factor in the 2023-2024 Fiba U19 World Cup for Serbia last offseason. In seven competitions, Borovicanin averaged 14.1 PTS, 7.3 REB and 2.7 AST. He finished the contest with double-doubles in three of his final four games.

April 5th

Christ Essandoko (St. Joseph’s) — COMMITTED TO PROVIDENCE

Ole Miss has reached out to this high-upside center. Possessing tremendous physical gifts Essandoko will be on the radar of several programs across the country. A 7’0 285-lb center, Essandoko displayed several flashes as a redshirt freshman. In 25 games, Essandoko averaged 8.2 PTS, 5.7 AST, and 1.1 BLKs in 21.0 minutes per game.

Essandoko sat out the 2022-2023 season and redshirted. Outside of NCAA competition, Essandoko was a member of the 2019 U18 French national team. He was also named to the U18 EuroLeague Junior First Team. Other schools to reach out include Ohio State, Texas, Providence, UCONN, and many more.

UPDATE: De’Shayne Montgomery (Mount St. Mary’s) – COMMITTED TO GEORGIA

Ole Miss has made the final four for De’Shayne Montgomery. Three of those four are SEC schools with Georgia and Mississippi State in the mix, joining the Rebels, as well as USC.

The 6-4 freshman guard from Ft. Lauderdale is the second Mount St. Mary’s player Ole Miss has reached out to during the portal season. Montgomery decided to leave the Mount after having played one year with the Mountaineers where he averaged 13.2 PTS, 3.5 RBS, and 2 AST per game.

Over the course of his last seven games in a Mountaineer uniform, Montgomery averaged 22 points per game and 4.8 assists per game. The dynamic scorer and capable defender earned numbers good enough to award himself the MAAC Rookie of the Year Award and a spot on the MAAC All-Freshman Team.

A top-6 steal leader in the MAAC, Montgomery also dropped 22 points on 60% shooting against Ole Miss this season back in November. As one of the more efficient shooters in college hoops this season, many of the top SEC programs are contacting Montgomery. – Per The Rebel Walk’s Coleman Young

UPDATE: Mikeal Brown-Jones (UNC-Greensboro)

Brown-Jones has released a list of his top three schools, and Ole Miss has made what appears to be the final cut. Other schools involved are Kansas State and Pitt. Here is a bit of a background on Brown-Jones in case you missed it.

After spending his first two seasons at VCU, Brown-Jones has shined in the last two at UNCG. This past season Brown-Jones averaged 18.9 PTS, 7.5 REB, and 1.1 AST. He enters the portal with one year of eligibility remaining and has heard from several high major programs.

Brown-Jones provides versatility from the forward spot, offering multiple abilities to affect the offense as a screener. He can attack off the dribble from the perimeter and back up opponents with his 6-8 height and 220-lb muscular frame. His ability to impact the game in so many ways makes him a highly coveted transfer who will be of high interest.

April 2nd

Caleb Robinson (Garner Webb)

A 6’4 200-lb senior, Robinson was a leader for Gardner-Webb this year. A former transfer from Catawba College, Robinson became a partial starter this past season where he started 17 of a potential 32 games. Robinson averaged 12.7 PTS, 6.6 REB, and 1.3 AST. His play this season earned him a spot on the All-Big South second team. A standout on the defensive end, Robinson has a 100.3 defensive rating and a 20.4 defensive rebound percentage.

Trevor Baskin – Colorado Mesa – COMMITTED TO COLORADO

A D2 standout, Trevor Baskin is looking to make the jump to D1 after an impressive four-year career at Colorado Mesa. Standing at 6’9, Baskin possesses the size and athleticism to make the jump with ease. He followed in his father’s footsteps by heading to Colorado Mesa, and while there put himself in their record books as for his career, Baskin is fifth all-time in scoring.

This past season, Baskin averaged 18.2 PTS, 8.3 REB and 3.9 AST. Schools to reach out to Baskin include Creighton, Ole Miss, Oregon, Florida, Virginia Tech and many others. Two schools of focus so far have been Colorado and Colorado State.

Sean Pedulla – Virginia Tech

Ole Miss is amongst the schools to reach out Virginia Tech transfer Sean Pedulla. A 6’1 guard, Pedulla averaged a team high 16.4 points a game this season while also averaging 4.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists. Pedulla can fill up the stat sheet and even had back to back thirty point games this season. Many will be in line for a chance to land Pedulla who will be a rising senior next season.

Other schools to reach out include Creighton, Oklahoma, Kentucky and several other high major programs. Pedulla grew up in Oklahoma in the town of Edmond. The Sooners are a team to monitor here.

April 1st

Xavier DuSell (Fresno State)

After playing in the Mountain West for two separate programs, Xavier DuSell will be looking for a new place to call home. The 6’4 guard spent three seasons at Wyoming before transferring to Fresno State this past offseason. At Fresno State, DuSell was a full time starter for all 33 of Fresno State’s games and was the second leading scorer Justin Hutson’s team.

DuSell averaged 11.5 PTS and 2.1 REB this season. The calling card to his game is his ability to shoot on the perimeter where he is a career 39.5% from beyond the arc. This past season he averaged 6.8 attempts from deep per game. Other schools to reach out include Cal, Cincinnati, Nevada, Oregon State and others.

Noah Reynolds (UW- Green Bay) – SET TO VISIT OLE MISS APRIL 13

Ole Miss is set to host first team All-Horizon League guard Noah Reynolds. The news broke via social media when Reynolds’ agent Adam Papas confirmed it to Joe Tipton of On3.com. Reynolds was the third-leading scorer in the conference at 20.0 points per game while being second in assists per game at 4.5. Reynolds spent the last season at UW – Green Bay. Prior to arriving there, Reynolds spent two seasons at Wyoming.

March 30th

Darlinstone Dubar (Hofstra) – COMMITTED TO TENNESSEE

Ole Miss has contacted the second-team All-Coastal guard from Hofstra. Dubar took a bigger role for the Pride after the departure of Aaron Estrada last season. Dubar has shined in that role alongside conference player of the year Tyler Thomas. Dubar stands at 6-6 and had averages of 17.8 PTS, 6.8 REB, and 1.4 AST.

A senior this past year, Dubar transferred to Hofstra after his freshman year. He began his career at Iowa State in a reserve role. Since arriving at Hofstra, Dubar has been a full-time starter for the last three seasons. A lot of high majors have been in contact including Kansas State, Arkansas, Syracuse, Arizona State, and more.

Josh Ola-Joseph (Minnesota) – COMMITTED TO CAL

It is confirmed that Ole Miss has made contact with the forward from Minnesota. Ola-Joseph is a 6-7 forward who has spent both years of his collegiate career at Minnesota. He is a native to Minnesota but did spend part of his prep career at Compass Prep in Arizona. In two years, Ola-Joseph has started 43 of a potential 60 games.

This past season Ola-Joseph averaged 7.5 PTS and 2.2 REB in just over 15 minutes of action per game. Ola-Joseph is an athletic forward who posseses a unique ability as a lob threat. The sophomore has heard from a variety of different schools and levels since entering the transfer portal.

March 29th

Pharrel Payne (Minnesota)

The first of two Minnesota players to hear from Ole Miss, Payne is a 6-9 and 255-lb big man. Payne has heard from a ton of high-major programs since entering the transfer portal. This past season, Payne averaged 10.0 PTS, 6.1 REB and 1.4 BLKS. As a freshman Payne played in a reserve role before being a part time starter this season.

Payne is a versatile big who has the bounce and strength to finish above and at the rim. He also can step out and switch if needed which is the kind of versatility Chris Beard is interested in.

Marcus Hill (Bowling Green State University)

Ole Miss is among a long list of teams to reach out to Hill. For the 2023-2024 season, Hill scored the most points in the MAC and was a top-3 scorer in points per game. Hill averaged 20.5 PTS, 5.0 REB and 2.6 AST. A volume scorer, Hill had 19 games over 20 points a game, and three where he reached the 30-point mark.

This past season was Hill’s first at the Division I level after spending time at Southern Union State CC prior. Hill averaged 26.0 PPG in his last season at SUSCC where he earned NJCAA Third Team All-American honors. He is a native of Rockford Illinois. Other teams to reach out include Illinois, Louisville, Oklahoma, NC State and many others.

March 28th

UPDATE: Malik Dia (Belmont) – SET TO VISIT OLE MISS BETWEEN APRIL 12-14

Per sources Ole Miss is set to host the Belmont forward for an official visit from April 12th-14th. If you’re looking for some more information on Dia and the visit take a look at the article HERE.

Ole Miss has been in contact with Belmont transfer Malik Dia. The 6-9 forward is one of the more intriguing offensive stars in the portal. The sophomore earned All-MVC third team honors for his play this past season. In 23.1 minutes per game, Dia averaged 16.9 PTS and 5.8 REB per game. His usage percentage of 39.3% last season ranks at the top of the NCAA last season.

Prior to joining Belmont last year, Dia spent his freshman year at Vanderbilt. Dia is bound for a big jump to the high majors given his output on the court. His per 40 numbers suggest, he would’ve averaged >29 points a game last year. His ability to score should help any team he ends up on.

UPDATE: Jordan Ivy-Curry (UTSA) – COMMITTED TO VIRGINIA TECH

Part of the Ole Miss staff concluded an in-home visit with Ivy-Curry recently per On3. With more information on the visit take a look HERE.

Ole Miss has reached out to UTSA’s leading scorer. In his second stint in San Antonio, Ivy-Curry took things up a level while enjoying career high averages in points (17.1), rebounds (5.2), assists (3.0) and 3P% (38.7%). After playing two years at UTSA, Ivy-Curry transferred to Pacific for a year before returning to the Roadrunners.

Despite dealing with some injuries, Ivy-Curry played in 21 games this year but his 17.1 PPG was good for seventh best in the American Athletic Conference. A 6’3 guard, Ivy-Curry can bring a hefty scoring presence to whoever lands his services. In this past season he had a 38-point outing against FAU and a 33-point effort against SMU. He has one year left of eligibility remaining. Others rumored to have made contact include (but are not limited to): Arizona State and Virginia.

Marques Warrick (Northern Kentucky) – COMMITTED TO MISSOURI

The 6’2 guard is transferring from Northern Kentucky with one year of eligibility left to use. He averaged 19.9 points per game, 2.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. Following the year, Warrick was also named to the All-Horizon League first team this past season. In all four seasons of his collegiate career, he has been an All-Horizon League player in some capacity. His 2,246 points are good for 7th all-time in the Horizon League. 

According to The Portal Report, Warrick is being heavily pursued by other schools than Ole Miss, like Arkansas, Indiana, Xavier, Cincinnati, South Carolina, and others. – Per The Rebel Walk’s Zach Moreth 

Frankie Collins (Arizona State) – COMMITTED TO TCU

Collins is transferring out of Arizona State, where he averaged 13.8 points per game, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. The 6’1 point guard has one year of eligibility remaining after originally starting his career at Michigan, transferring to Arizona State, and hitting the portal one last time this offseason.

Last year, Ole Miss was able to recruit Austin Nunez who was a former member of the Arizona State basketball program. So far, Collins has heard from schools such as Tennessee, Arkansas, BYU, Virginia Tech, TCU, Florida, Ole Miss, and many more. – Per The Rebel Walk’s Zach Moreth

Myron Amey Jr. (San Jose State)

Amey Jr. is a junior transferring from San Jose State where he averaged 15.7 points per game, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists, shooting 42-percent from the field. Additionally, the 6’2, 185 pound guard also shot 36.2 percent from three-point range. 

Since entering the portal, Amey has reportedly heard from schools such as Creighton, Butler, Arkansas, New Mexico, Cal, Nevada, Ole Miss, and more. – Per The Rebel Walk’s Zach Moreth

AJ Storr (Wisconsin) – COMMITTED TO KANSAS

The sophomore out of Wisconsin officially entered his name in the portal on Thursday afternoon after choosing to play another year of college basketball rather than declare for the NBA Draft. Storr is coming off of a phenomenal season where he averaged 17 points per game and 4 rebounds per game. 

Prior to transfering to Wisconsin in the last portal cycle Standing at 6’7 with the guard capabilities he possesses, Storr is arguably the best player in the transfer portal and is being heavily pursued by schools like Illinois, Kansas, and Ole Miss. – Per The Rebel Walk’s Zach Moreth

March 27th

Zeke Mayo (South Dakota State) — COMMITTED TO KANSAS

Ole Miss has reached out to SDSU guard Zeke Mayo. After this past season the Junior was named the Summit League Player of the Year. He averaged 18.8 PTS, 5.7 REB, and 3.5 AST. Mayo finished top five in the Summit League in points and assists while finishing top-10 in rebounds.

Mayo will garner a lot of interest in this portal cycle and has heard from several top programs in college basketball. Some of the teams to reach out include Kansas, Auburn, Texas, Missouri and many others.

Terrence Edwards Jr. (James Madison) – COMMITTED TO LOUISVILLE

The 6-6 wing from James Madison is one the top players in the transfer at this point in the time. Edwards, who played all four years at James Madison, averaged 17.2 PTS, 4.4 REB, and 3.4 AST. Edwards is the type of player who can play multiple positions and can have multiple roles from handling the ball to creating his own shot to spot up shooting. Edwards is a very high volume, yet efficient scorer. He finished first in the Sun Belt in field goals attempted, 2 point field goals attempted, as well as free throws attempted. Because of his volume shooting, Edwards finished 2nd in the the Sun Belts in PPG as well as finishing top 10 in shooting percentage by shooting 42.7%.

Edwards is not just an excellent scorer, he is a ball handling wing who also loves to distribute the basketball. His 3.4 AST per game was good enough for 5th in the Sun Belt. All of these impressive numbers for Edwards led to some very impressive accolades. This past season, Edwards was named Sun Belt Player of the Year, All-Sun Belt Tournament Team, and First Team All-Sun Belt. He even led the Dukes in their NCAA Tournament upset over the Wisconsin Badgers. Edwards is one of the more sought after players in the portal. Atin Wright (Drake) 

After losing head coach Darian Devries to West Virginia, there has been an exodus of great players from the Drake program. The 6-1 junior point guard, Atin Wright, is the second player from this year’s NCAA Tournament team to insert his name in the portal.

The two-time transfer from Lakewood, CA spent his first three years at Cal St. Northridge then transferred to Drake during his junior season. At Drake, Wright was the second leading scorer behind star player Tucker Devries. Wright averaged 14.1 PTS, 2.3 REB, and 1.9 AST per game. Outside of his scoring, Wright is one of the more accurate shooters in the Missouri Valley Conference. He averaged a total FG% of 45.8% and shot a very impressive 40.6% from behind the arc. The incoming senior was also named to the All MVC-Conference Tournament team for his performance at Arch Madness where he averaged 16 pts on 55% shooting.

Wright is also hearing from many programs such as Florida, Mississippi St, Arkansas, Stanford, UCF, and USC. I also expect him to obtain heavy interest from West Virginia as both Tucker Devries and his father, Darian, are making the switch to Morgantown. -Per The Rebel Walk’s Coleman Young

Bryce Pope (UC San Diego) – COMMITTED TO USC

Ole Miss has contacted the 6-3 scorer from UC San Diego. Pope is a two-time All-Big West honoree who has been able to score in bunches his last two seasons. Pope is a graduate transfer after spending the last five years as part of the UC San Diego program. He was named to the 2023-2024 All-Big West First Team for his play this season where he averaged 18.3 PTS, 3.9 REB, and 1.9 AST.

Pope has heard from several high major programs since entering the transfer portal. A part of that is interest from other SEC programs such as Arkansas and LSU. Pope is a native to the San Diego area.

Lee Dort (Vanderbilt) – COMMITTED TO CAL

The Vanderbilt big man is in the transfer portal after two seasons. In his collegiate career Dort has appeared in 18 games. Coming out of high school, Dort was a top-100 recruit in the class of 2022. At 6-10 and 250 lbs, Dort can provide a presence on the interior and plays the game with a physcial style. Other teams to reach out to Dort include Clemson, California, LSU, Colorado, Penn State, and more. Dort was suspended from Vanderbilt’s team in late November.

Justin Wright (Loyola Marymount)

Ole Miss has reached out to Loyola Marymount transfer Justin Wright. The 6-1 Guard spent the past season at Loyola Marymount after transferring from North Carolina Central during last year’s cycle. This past season Wright averaged 11.1 PTS, 3.4 REB and 1.9 AST.

In three seasons at North Carolina Central, Wright was a two time All-MEAC player. He was a top-five scorer in the MEAC for two of those three seasons as well. Other schools to reach out include Miami, VCU, George Mason, and many others.

March 26th

Tony Perkins (Iowa)

Since entering the transfer portal, Ole Miss is one of the schools to reach out to Iowa trasnfer Tony Perkins. A full time starter for the Hawkeyes the past two years, Perkins had his most productive season yet. Perkins (6-4 210 lbs) is a graduate transfer and will have one year left of eligibility. Perkins averaged 14.0 PTS, 4.4 REB, and 4.6 AST this past season. A two-way guard Perkins also brings a lot on the defensive end after averaging 1.6 steals per game last year.

Other teams to reach out include Arizona State, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and many others. Expect Missouri to be a team to monitor here.

Deuce Turner (San Diego)

Ole Miss is amongst the schools to reach out to the WCC Sixth Man of the Year Deuce Turner. The 6-2 guard was a valuable piece off the bench for San Diego as he averaged 15.5 PTS, 2.4 REB, and 2.1 AST last season. Tuner was a junior this past season and spent the last two seasons at San Diego before starting his career at Bucknell.

Turner’s usage percentage of 30.7% was the highest in the WCC this past season. Other teams to reach out include Seton Hall, Cal, Arizona State and many others.

Davon Barnes (Sam Houston State)

A second team All-CUSA selection, Davon Barnes has heard from Ole Miss since entering the transfer portal. Despite playing in Texas at both Sam Houston State and Texas Southern, Ole Miss fans may be familiar with Barnes as he played his high school ball in the Memphis area at Collierville.

The 6-5 Barnes has heard from LSU, Xavier, Virginia Tech and Charlotte as well as some others since entering. Barnes will be a senior next season. This past year he averaged 13.5 PTS, 3.5 REB, and 1.6 AST. Some true strides were made as a shooter as he bumped his FT% up to 83.7% and his three point number improved to 39.1%. Barnes could be an interesting player to monitor as we get further into portal season.

Cade Tyson (Belmont)

Ole Miss has now reached out to another Belmont player today as Chris Beard and his staff has made contact with Cade Tyson. The younger brother of NBA player and former Clemson Tiger Hunter Tyson, Cade, a sophomore, has had quite the start to his own career. A 6’7 wing, Tyson earned All-MVC Rookie of the Year in his freshman season in the 2022-2023 season after averaging 13.6 PTS and 4.6 REB. This past season Tyson earned Second Team All-MVC honors. He improved his scoring output to 16.2 PTS and proved to be quite the sniper from the perimeter after shooting 46.5% from deep while also making 80 triples on the season.

Along with Ole Miss, Tyson has heard from multiple high majors including the likes of Kansas, Oregon, Florida, Auburn and others. There will be no shortage of interest for the high scoring shooter.

UPDATE: Sam Alexis (Chattanooga) – COMMITTED TO FLORIDA

It has been reported to On3.com that in an interview with Alexis, he stated that Chris Beard will be visiting Alexisfor an in-home visit. We’ll provide more information as we learn, but a noteworthy sign there. Below is part of the earlier write up on Alexis.

The 6’9 forward had a large impact over the past two seasons with UTC and will now loook to do so at a new program. Native to Apoka (FL), Alexis took a big stride after an impressive freshman campaign that earned him All-SoCon Freshman team honors. This past year, Alexis averaged 10.8 PTS, 9.1 REB, and 2.1 BLKs a game in his first full year as a starter.

Continuing the trend of Ole Miss searching for help on the interior, Alexis will provide whatever school he ends up with a potential immediate impact and strong development curve.

March 24th

Mekhi Mason (Rice)

After helping lead Rice through a realignment into the American Athletic Conference, Mason will now be looking for a new home after his sophomore season. As a freshman, Mason earned All-CUSA Freshman team honors after starting all 35 games. This past season, Mason bumped his numbers up from his freshman year, averaging 14.0 PTS, 4.0 REB, and 2.8 AST.

Mason finished his prep career at Compass Prep in Arizona. Ole Miss has been confirmed to reach out to the 6’5 guard. Plenty of other high major suitors have reached out along with some prestigious mid-majors.

 

March 23rd

Mikeal Brown-Jones (UNC Greensboro)

Ole Miss has reached out to All-SoCon First Team Forward Mikeal Brown-Jones. After spending his first two seasons at VCU, Brown-Jones has shined in the last two at UNCG. This past season Brown-Jones averaged 18.9 PTS, 7.5 REB, and 1.1 AST. He enters the portal with one year of eligbility remaining and has heard from several high major programs.

Brown-Jones provides versatility from the forward spot, offering multiple abilities to affect the offfense as a screener. He can attack off the dribble from ther perimeter, and back up opponents with his 6-8 height and 220lb muscular frame. His ability to impact the game in so many ways makes him a highly coveted transfer who will be of high interest.

March 22nd

UPDATE: Michael Ajayi (Pepperdine) – COMMITTED TO GONZAGA

As first reported by Joe Tipton of On3.com, Michael Ajayi is planning on visiting both Gonzaga and Ole Miss. For more information on the visit and Ajayi overall take a look at the Rebel Walk article (HERE).

Tarris Reed Jr. (Michigan) – COMMITTED TO UCONN

Ole Miss has made contact with the former Michigan forward. Since entering the portal, Reed Jr has seen several high major programs reach out. As a sophomore this past season, Reed Jr. became a full time starter for Juwan Howard and had averages of 9.0 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 1.4 BLKs.

As a player, Reed Jr. brings a strong frame at 6’10 and 260 lbs. However, despite having that size, its the skill and footwork that really shine for him on the court. Reed Jr. has a strong post arsenal highlighted by a quick post spin that cna be tough to guard as well as other counter moves. Also an energy big who rebounds hard and loves to run in transition. He is a native of St. Louis, MO.

Davonte “Devo” Davis (Arkansas)

After spending the past four seasons at Arkansas, Devo Davis will be looking to spend his final year of eligibility elsewhere. A starter for a majority of his career at Arkansas, Davis took a different role this past season that led to a drop in production for the Senior. As a Junior, Davis was highly productive for the Razorbacks averaging 10.9 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 2.5 APG and 1.4 STLs while also shooting 34.6% from three.

This past year, Davis’ scoring dipped to 5.9 PPG. Ole Miss is amongst many SEC teams to reach out to Davis whose experience will warrant some heavy looks from teams looking to add a veteran piece. Davis earned a spot on the 2023 SEC All-Defensive team. He will have one year of eligbility remaining.

Sincere Parker (Saint Louis)

Despite dealing with a foot injury this past season, Sincere Parker was highly productive for the Billikens. The injury caused him to only play in sixteen games this season. However, in 20.7 minutes per game, Parker averaged 15.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Parker was also strong from the three point line where he shot it at a 42.6% clip.

Prior to joining Saint Louis in 2022, Parker spent time at Moberly Area Community College where he was a NJCAA first team all-american for the 2021-2022 season, during which he averaged 21.9 points per game. A scoring guard by nature, Parker has deep range and can really stretch defenses. Other programs to have reached out include Oregon, Georgia, Cal, Missouri and more. He is a native of Rockford, Il.

Cliff Omoruyi (Rutgers)

A three year starter for Rutgers, Omoruyi will enter the transfer portal with one more year of eligbility remaining. Omoruyi has had a double digit scoring average for the past three seasons. This past season Omoruyi earned honors on the All-Big Ten Defensive First Team and as an honorable mention All-Big Ten member. He averaged 10.4 PTS, 8.3 REB, and 2.9 BLKs.

After his junior season, Omoruyi earned second team All-Big Ten honors. Several high major programs have reached out to him since entering the portal including Ole Miss. Keep an eye on St. John’s and don’t rule out a potential return to Rutgers.

Greg Gordon (Iona) – COMMITTED TO UAB

Ole Miss has made contact with Iona guard Greg Gordon. In his first season of division one basketball, Gordon started 24 games for the Gaels and averaged 16.0 PTS, 7.3 REB, 1.3 AST, and 1.5 STLs before leaving the Iona program on February 22nd. Several high major programs reached out to Gordon after he officially entered his name into the transfer portal including LSU, Florida State, Arkansas, Missouri and more.

Prior to arriving at Iona, Gordon spent two years at Dyersburg Community College in Tennessee. Gordon is originally from Chicago but played his high school at Coral Springs in Florida.

March 21st

Rashaud Marshall (Ole Miss) – entered the transfer portal

Ole Miss C Rashaud Marshall has entered the transfer portal.

AJ Smith (The Citadel)

A crafty wing scorer, AJ Smith has entered the transfer portal after his second year at The Citadel. Ole Miss has been confirmed to have made contact with the 6’4 sophomore. Smith took major strides after becoming a full time starter this season. He increased his scoring average to 16.2 PPG, which is up from 6.1 PPG as a freshman. Another noticeable improvement was as a threat from the perimter as Smith saw success with the increased volume bumping up his average to 35.4% from three.

As a player Smith loves to find angles to attack and turn the corner to get downhill. Citadel used him off screens to make this happen, and when so his first look was to get to the rim for a layup. Not to say he won’t use those angles to stop for a pull-up or turnaround jumper either.

Sam Alexis (UT-Chattanooga)

Along with several other high majors, Ole Miss has reached out to Sam Alexis of UT-Chattanooga. The 6’9 forward had a large impact over the past two seasons with UTC and will now loook to do so at a new program. Native to Apoka (FL), Alexis took a big stride after an impressive freshman campaign that earned him All-SoCon Freshman team honors. This past year, Alexis averaged 10.8 PTS, 9.1 REB, and 2.1 BLKs a game in his first full year as a starter.

Alex Anderson (Incarnate World)

The 6-6 guard/forward combo is already a 3-time transfer from Memphis, Tennessee. After having graduated from Tipton-Rosemark Academy, Anderson began his collegiate career with South Alabama then transferred to Alabama St. for his sophomore campaign. This past season he wound up at Incarnate Word in San Antonio for his junior season where he averaged 11 PTS, 2.9 REB, and 2.9 AST. Even with sitting out the first half of the season due to being a two-time transfer, the Memphis native has steadily improved each season. He makes his living by scoring in the paint and getting to the free throw line. Anderson averages about 4.8 free throws per game which puts him in the 95th percentile among all players.

The Memphis native is also receiving looks from local programs such as Arkansas and Tennessee St, as well as many mid-majors such as UTSA, North Texas, Kent St, and Valparaiso. Outside of entering his name in the transfer portal, you may have heard of Alex Anderson because of his involvement in the massive brawl that ensued in the Incarnate Word/Texas A&M Commerce Game in February. Jason Rivera-Torres (Vanderbilt)

Rivera-Torres is a familiar name for Ole Miss fans as Chris Beard has reached out to a SEC product. In limited minutes at Vandy, Rivera-Torres flashed shot-creation ability while being a steady defender in his freshman season. The 6’7 wing started SEC play off with four straight contests in double figures, including a 12 point performance against Ole Miss.

Rivera-Torress will have three years of eligibility remaining. An intriguing player with higher upside, he has heard from several high majors including Virginia Tech, Iowa State and many other programs. Ole Miss has been confirmed to have reached out.

March 19th

De’Shayne Montgomery (Mount St. Mary’s)

The 6-4 freshman guard from Ft. Lauderdale is the second Mt. St. Mary’s player Ole Miss has reached out to during the portal season. Montgomery decided to leave the Mount after having played one year with the Mountaineers where he averaged 13.2 PTS, 3.5 RBS, and 2 AST per game. Over the course of his last seven games in a Mountaineer uniform, Montgomery averaged 22 points per game and 4.8 assists per game. The dynamic scorer and capable defender earned numbers good enough to award himself the MAAC Rookie of the Year Award and a spot on the MAAC All-Freshman Team.

A top-6 steal leader in the MAAC, Montgomery also dropped 22 points on 60% shooting against Ole Miss this season back in November. As one of the more efficient shooters in college hoops this season, many of the top SEC programs are contacting Montgomery such as Arkansas, LSU, Georgia, Mississippi St. as well as many top programs nationally such as Illinois, St. Johns, and Xavier. – Per The Rebel Walk’s Coleman Young

Frankie Fidler (Omaha)

The 6’7 junior forward is a dynamic scorer and is one of the very best players in the Summit Conference. Fiddler has led the Mavericks in scoring since his freshman campaign and has improved immensely year after year. The Nebraska native averaged 20.1 PTS, 6.3 REB, and 2.6 AST this season.

Fidler’s impressive stat sheet garnered him a spot on the All-Summit League First Team and All-Summit League Tournament Team. He completed the Summit League Tournament with an average of 30.5 PTS and 9 REB per game. The star forward has the ability to score inside the paint and on the perimeter, and he currently ranks 6th in free throws made, 22nd in points, and 31st in PPG out of the entire country.

Outside of Ole Miss, Fidler has been contacted by Alabama, Indiana, Nebraska, Georgetown, and Arizona St. Many of the best programs across the country will try to go after the star forward. – Per the Rebel Walk’sColeman Young

March 18th

Dakota Leffew (Mount St. Mary’s)

The 6’5 senior guard is a crafty shot creater. With a smooth release on an elevated shot, Leffew doesn’t need a lot of space to get off his shot. On the year, he averaged 17.6 PTS, 4.3 REB, and 3.9 AST per game. He posted a shooting slash of .430/.365/.765. This past year his play earned him a spot on the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s All-First team.

Leffew is a native of Jonesboro, GA. Other schools who reached out include, Maryland, Syracuse, Indiana and many more. Ole Miss was listed amongst those to reach out.

Amari Williams (Drexel)

A 6’10, 225-lb big man, Williams was the first person in Coastal Athletic Association history to three-peat as conference Defensive Player of the Year. He entered the transfer portal while also entering his name into the NBA draft on March 12th. Williams is currently one of the top players in the transfer portal as of writing on March 18th.

This past year Williams averaged 12.2 PTS, 7.8 REB, and 1.8 BLK. A strong presence with good size, Williams has excellent timing and verticality to reject shots. He can create a lot of opportunities for himself down low as well on the offensive end. Many high majors including Ole Miss have reached out.

Kylen Milton (Arkansas Pine-Bluff)

Ole Miss is amongst a couple high major schools expected to be interested in the second team All-SWAC member. A native of Arkansas, Milton shined in his three years at UAPB. This past year he averaged, 17.0 PPG, 6.6 REB, and 2.9 AST. Others interested include Arkansas and California.

The senior really found his form this year, not only from a production standpoint but also from an efficiency one. Milton’s FG% went from 36.8% to 50.5, his 2pt FG% jumped by 29.5%. The past two seasons he has scored in the top 10 in the SWAC.

Jacob Meyer (Coastal Carolina)

The first freshman to be listed on the portal tracker is Coastal Carolina’s Jacob Meyer. Ole Miss was mentioned amidst a long list of teams from both the high major and mid-major ranks to contact the freshman point guard. In his first year of collegiate basketball, Meyer averaged a team high 15.7 PPG for the Chanticleers while making 44.0% of his field goals and 40.2% of his attempts from beyond the three point line. The 6’2 PG started all 31 games for Coastal Carolina this season.

A native of Coventry KY, Meyer led the state of Kentucky in scoring for both his junior (38.2) and senior (36.8) years of high school. Other schools to reach out include Mississippi State, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Western Kentucky and many more.

March 17th

Michael Ajayi (Pepperdine)

Another example of a JUCO player making waves in his first year at the Division I level is Michael Ajayi. Lorenzo Romar found a true gem in Ajayi. In his lone season at Pepperdine, Ajayi was the team’s leading scorer (17.2 PTS) and rebounder (9.9 REB). He also shot a blistering 47% from three this past season. Some thought Ajayi would consider declaring for the NBA draft, but, instead, the junior forward is deciding to transfer.

Since entering the portal, Ajayi has heard from several blue bloods of college basketball and plenty of high majors. The list includes schools such as Arizona, Kansas, Indiana, UCLA, Gonzaga, and soon to be many more. Ole Miss was listed among those to be in contact. His play this year earned him All-WCC first team honors.

Clark Slajchert (Penn)

The first Ivy League player to be featured is Clark Slahchert, who has been contacted by Ole Miss. A 6’1 guard, Slajchert has been a two year starter for the Quakers. In this past season, Slajchert upped his scoring average from 13.6 to 18.0 points per game. A scorer by trade, Slajchert enjoyed quite the successful year from beyond the three point line where he shot it at a 42.2% clip. That figure is good for top-15 in the NCAA this past season.

In case you may not know, graduate students aren’t allowed to play in the Ivy League. A lot of players announce intentions to join early, but in the case of Clark if he wanted to play he would have to move on. Several other high major and mid-major schools have reached out including Virginia, Kansas, Furman, New Mexico State and more.

March 16th

Jacob Crews (UT-Martin)

After one year at UT-Martin, Jacob Crews entered the transfer portal. Among plenty of high majors, Ole Miss has reached out to the 6’8 wing. Before arriving at UT-Martin, Crews spent time at Daytona State College before making the move to the Division I level. This past season Crews was the only D1 men’s basketball player to average >19.0 PTS, >8.0 REB, and still make >85 threes.

He earned several accolades including first team All-OVC, was named to the OVC All-Newcomer squad and earned several OVC player of the week honors. At Daytona State, Crews earned second team All-America honors for the NJCAA. Currently, Crews is one of the top-rated players in the transfer portal.

Jordan Ivy-Curry (UTSA)

Some of that Texas connection is coming out here, as Ole Miss has reached out to UTSA’s leading scorer. In his second stint in San Antonio, Ivy-Curry took things up a level while enjoying career high averages in points (17.1), rebounds (5.2), assists (3.0) and 3P% (38.7%). After playing two years at UTSA, Ivy-Curry transferred to Pacific for a year before returning to the Roadrunners.

Despite dealing with some injuries, Ivy-Curry played in 21 games this year but his 17.1 PPG was good for seventh best in the American Athletic Conference. A 6’3 guard, Ivy-Curry can bring a hefty scoring presence to whoever lands his services. In this past season he had a 38-point outing against FAU and a 33-point effort against SMU. He has one year left of eligibility remaining. Others rumored to have made contact include (but are not limited to): Arizona State and Virginia.

March 15th

Xavier Edmonds (Salt Lake City Junior College)

How bout a little JUCO action to be added to the mix? Ole Miss has reportedly been in touch with Xavier Edmonds, a 6’9, 245-pound freshman at Salt Lake City Junior College. A product of Bishop Montgomery HS in California, Edmonds was a three (or four depending on ranking) star recruit in the class of 2023. The freshman tallied five double-doubles this season, and had averages of 14.0 PTS, and 7.6 REB for the season. He earned honors as a conference Player of the Week for the Scenic West Athletic Conference for week 15.

Several high major programs are recruiting Edmonds this time around including, LSU, BYU, Texas A&M, and many others. Out of high school, Edmonds drew interest from the likes of both Xavier and Washington State.

Marcus Foster (Furman)

Ole Miss has been in touch with the second team All-SoCon selection. The 6’4, 200-lb Foster is a redshirt senior who has spent his whole collegiate career at Furman. This past season, Foster averaged 17.0 PTS, 7.5 REB, and 1.8 AST. While Foster had a down shooting year this past season, he did shoot north of 35% from three the two prior years. A true scorer, Foster also shined on the defensive glass this past season. His 6.6 defensive rebounds and 24% defensive rebound percentage is in the 99th percentile in the NCAA.

In 24 games this season, Foster scored >20 points seven times and even had back-to-back 30 point performances in November. Other programs rumored to be in contact with Foster include Arkansas, Gonzaga, Indiana, Auburn, Georgia, and many more. He is a native of Atlanta, GA.

Camren Hunter (Central Arkansas)

A redshirt this season due to injury, the 6’3, 200-lb Camren Hunter has heard from Ole Miss since entering the portal. A two-time all ASUN team member, Hunter was the conference Freshman of the Year in 2021-2022. It was also the first year for Central Arkansas in the Atlantic Sun conference. In his sophomore season, Hunter started 30 of 31 contests and had averages of 16.9 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 3.4 APG.

Hunter was mentioned as a preseason All-ASUN player this year prior to being injured. A real bucket-getter, Hunter lived for fastbreak opportunities and getting inside. His 24.7% assist percentage is really good for a player with a usage percentage of 26.6%. Both those figures are >90th percentile. Several other SEC programs, including Auburn, Mississippi State, and Missouri, have also reached out amongst many other D1 teams. Given, Chris Beard and Wes Flanigan’s connection to the state of Arkansas, this may be a player to monitor.

March 13th

Tyran Cook (Virginia Military Institute)

The freshman for VMI has received heavy interest since entering the transfer portal. As of writing over 50+ programs have been confirmed to reach out to the 6’2, 185-pound Cook with likely even more. Among those it has been confirmed that Ole Miss had reached out to Cook. On the year, Cook averaged 12.7 PPG, 2.8 REB, and 2.4 AST. As a freshman his usage percentage of 26.7% ranked in the 92nd percentile in all of college basketball.

On the season, Cook had four 20+ point outings and finished in double figures in his last four contests. Other notable programs to reach out include Maryland, South Carolina, TCU and other high majors. Cook is native of Milwaukee, WI.

March 11th

Jamal Gibson (Southern University at New Orleans)

Ole Miss has reached out to 6’8 freshman Jamal Gibson of Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) at the NAIA level. One of the more fascinating stories in college basketball, Gibson was a 26-year old freshman this past season. Prior to joining SUNO, Gibson had dropped out of high school and was working in a tattoo parlor. He was playing in a men’s league when a SUNO assistant coach discovered him and convinced him to join him. Prior to becoming a part of the team at SUNO, Gibson had zero organized basketball experience.

In his lone season at SUNO, Gibson averaged 21.0 points per game and 15.8 rebounds per game in NAIA competition. This past season, SUNO played four games against D1 competition against the University of New Orleans, Southeastern Louisiana, Troy and Northwestern State. In those four appearances, Gibson averaged 19.75 PPG and 14.25 RPG with three double-doubles. This includes a 30 point, 15 rebound and four-block performance against Northwestern State.

In January, Gibson earned NAIA Player of the Week honors in route to earning All-GCAC Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and  Freshman of the Year.

According to The Portal Report, Ole Miss is one of five teams as of writing to reach out to Gibson. Others include North Alabama, Youngstown State, Howard, and VMI.
