Ole Miss Hockey Set for Two Games Against Alabama-Huntsville This Weekend

OXFORD, Miss. — The Ice Rebels’ last divisional series comes this weekend against the University of Alabama-Huntsville. Game one is tonight at 9:15 pm, while game two is Saturday at 4:15. The Rebs will host both games at the MidSouth Ice House.

The Ice Rebs will broadcast both games on Blackdog Hockey. Viewers can purchase a four-hour pass for $10.

UAH is coming off a 3-2 overtime win against Vanderbilt University. The Chargers are 7-7-1 and rank 11th in MyHockey Rankings. They have 10 points and are 5-4-0-1 in divisional play.

The Chargers possess the fourth and final North division playoff spot with four divisional matchups remaining.

The Rebels are out of the playoff race but can play spoiler this weekend. One win will make it more difficult for UAH to qualify for the playoffs, especially with Middle Tennessee State University (nine points) not far behind.

The Chargers have decent depth and a lot of team speed. Most of their skill comes from the top six, while their third and fourth lines are more defensively-minded.

The Rebs must contain the Chargers’ top two scorers: Kolton and Keaton Watts. The Watts brothers both have 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points in 14 games.

Fatigue could play a factor in this series for Ole Miss, as the Rebels had three straight games and two days of practice earlier in the week.

The Ice Rebs, coming off a 5-4 win over the University of Alabama DII last Sunday, have some momentum heading into the series.
