Ole Miss football’s Lane Kiffin joins basketball’s Chris Beard on “Fireside Chat”

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss head football coach Lane Kiffin joined men’s basketball head coach Chris Beard on the latest edition of Beard’s “Fireside Chat,” Beard’s direct line of communication to Rebel students.

The two coaches talked about books they’re reading, which of Lane’s kids gives him the best birthday presents (Kiffin said it’s Landry), and Pete Golding’s hair.

Kiffin tells Coach Beard his favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption.

In his Fireside Chats, Beard also offers what he calls “real advice” for the Ole Miss students. He asked Kiffin to give words of wisdom on something he knows now tat he didn’t know then.

“Slow down. You’re young and want to make every decision so fast….it’s not about the Peach Bowl trophy, it’s about all the stuff that happened in the year, all the cool memories and experiences with the players. Until you slow down, you can’t figure that out,” Kiffin expained.

Kiffin also talked about Juice Kiffin, whose birthday was Thursday.

You know, he’s like a world class hunting dog. His grandfather and his great-grandfather are on magazines. He’s a Manning of hunting dogs.”
