Madison-Ridgeland Center Joe Koury looks forward to being a Rebel: ‘I’ve never been more excited in my life’
OXFORD, Miss. — Last week, 2024 Madison-Ridgeland Academy offensive lineman Joe Koury signed with Ole Miss. We spoke with Koury, and he could hardly contain his excitement about joining the Rebels.
Blessed beyond measure🤞🦈❤️ @CoachAlexFaulk @CoachGarrisonOL @Lane_Kiffin @warren_rowan @CoachHerbertDa1 @Rebels247 @Zach_Berry @LawrencHopkins pic.twitter.com/lAhyCkh8p5

The 6-foot-1, 300-pound center, who will join the Rebels as a preferred walk-on before the upcoming season, knew from the moment he received the call from Ole Miss that he would be a Rebel.
“It was a done deal,” Koury said.
“I’ve never been more excited in my life. It was exhilarating. I can’t even describe how it felt knowing that all of my hard work was paying off. Me and my family were super grateful for it, and it still really hasn’t hit me yet.”

Madison-Ridgeland has won three of the last five MAIS 6A State Championship games. Koury is a big part of their recent success, playing on the O-line that helped former high school teammate and Southern Miss freshman QB John White break the all-time Mississippi high school career passing yards record.
Surprisingly enough, Koury did not grow up in an Ole Miss home. In fact, he grew up in the exact opposite of one.
Joe’s father attended Mississippi State, while his mother went to Auburn, and his sister goes to Alabama.

Fortunately enough, another one of Koury’s closest relatives happens to be a former Rebel.
“My uncle is an Ole Miss graduate, and he constantly influenced me about Ole Miss and how great it was, so I’m finally getting to experience that, and I’m super excited about it.“
Joe Koury on becoming a Rebel
Joe is set to arrive in Oxford this May for summer camp, bringing a mentality that is a coach’s dream.
“I’m really just excited to get to work. I don’t complain about playing time or anything, I know it’s super competitive now with transfers, but I’m really excited to just get in there, enjoy the process, and learn as much as I can to develop over the next couple of years.”
