Notes from Tuesday’s Ole Miss Football Practice | Harris, Prieskorn and Franklin updates; plus where is Michael Trigg?
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss returned to the practice field drawing board Tuesday after Saturday’s 24-10 loss to Alabama, and from our limited time in the Manning Center watching we can offer the following observations and injury updates.
Where is Michael Trigg?
Ole Miss tight end Michael Trigg took zero snaps against Alabama. While we cannot confirm whether or not he was at practice Monday, as media is only allowed to observe one day per week (Tuesday), we can say while we were there today, we did not see him. Others have reported he was not in attendance at Monday’s practice, either. We’re checking with sources to see if we can learn a more definitive update on his status.
Note: As of this afternoon at 3:00 p.m., Trigg is no longer listed on the Ole Miss football online roster.
What we do know for sure is tight end Caden Prieskorn is just coming back from surgery on his toe and tight end Hudson Wolfe is out with a broken collarbone, so any losses in that room could be significant.
Injury updates:
Wide receiver Tre Harris and TE Prieskorn were wearing the black “no-contact” jerseys Tuesday; however, each was going through drills and neither seemed hampered by injury in terms of their mobility. Harris, we learned from Coach Kiffin in Sunday’s audio zoom presser, was actually coming off knee surgery.
“He’s actually recovering from surgery and he kind of felt it and played a little bit. As you can see, (he) was very limited in what was done with him. Hopefully he’ll get back this week, another week removed from surgery, and be able to actually play in a normal role.“

Wide receiver Zakhari Franklin was running with the first team today with Jordan Watkins and Dayton Wade, so that’s more good news. Franklin, like Prieskorn and Harris, is also returning from surgery.
Wide receiver Jalen Knox wore the black jersey last week and, according to PFF, did not participate in any snaps against Alabama. However, he was a full go today, so that’s good news.
Linebacker Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste was also wearing the black jersey today, but he was doing drills with the first-team defensive group.
Running back Jam Griffin was seen in the training room in street clothes.
Ayden Williams
When head coach Lane Kiffin was asked about the younger receivers in Monday’s press conference, he mentioned wanting to get the Rebels’ freshman phenom Ayden Williams — who only took one snap against the Tide — more involved. He also indicated Ayden had been sick and that’s what kept him out of the Alabama game.
“We’ve had a lot of injuries out there (in the receiving corps), and Ayden (Williams) was doing great, and he actually got sick and missed some time. We’ve got to get him back and involved. He’s got a chance to be a really special player like we saw in camp, hopefully this will be the week.”

That definitely seems to be the case as from what we saw today, Williams seemed like he was back to full health and participated a great deal in the wide receiver rotation.
Other notes
It looks as if the team has put the Bama loss aside and is focusing on the upcoming battle with the Tigers as the energy level was high today.
- From our limited time watching, we did notice that it appears John Saunders, Jr. and Ladarius Tennison were playing in the nickel spot.
- We also observed that freshman star linebacker Suntarine Perkins was quite involved in today’s reps.
- Offensively, the line appeared to be the same during the time we viewed: Left tackle Victor Curne, left guard Quincy McGee, center Caleb Warren, right guard Jeremy James, and right tackle Micah Pettus.
That’s it from our only practice availability for this week, but we will have more from today’s player press conferences and from Coach Kiffin’s SEC Coaches Teleconference on Wednesday.
