No. 17 Baseball Drops Governor’s Cup to No. 10 Mississippi State
PEARL, Miss. (Relase)– No. 17 Ole Miss (31-15) dropped the 2026 edition of the Governor’s Cup to No. 10 Mississippi State (35-10) Tuesday night by a score of 7-3.
Dom Decker went 2-for-5 with an RBI and Collin Reuter drove in two runs in the loss.
Mississippi State scored the first five runs of the game, four coming in the first inning as they strung together four hits and took advantage of two free passes. Three singles in the second inning would give them a 5-0 lead early.
The Rebels got on the board in the sixth as Reuter doubled in Topher Jones and Brayden Randle with two outs in the inning. Decker drove home Reuter to make it 5-3.
The Bulldogs extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth and the eighth, manufacturing runs on a sacrifice fly and a sacrifice bunt.
After a three-run sixth inning, the Rebels had just two baserunners the rest of the way, coming via a walk and a Bulldog error.
The Rebels will head to Fayetteville, Arkansas this weekend for a three-game series against the Razorbacks.
