‘Flipmas’ in the ‘Sip! 4-Star Running Back Kedrick Reescano Commits to Ole Miss

‘Flipmas’ in the ‘Sip! 4-Star Running Back Kedrick Reescano Commits to Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. — It’s indeed beginning to look a lot like a “Flipmas” in the ‘Sip. In a 24 hour-span, the Rebs have flipped another big-time playmaker in 4-star running back Kedrick Reescano, following the commitment of offensive lineman Ethan Fields Friday who de-committed from Purdue.

The final destination of one of the nation’s top uncommitted running backs has probably been one of the most anticipated of the 2023 class. The New Caney standout was previously committed to Michigan State but de-committed late in October.

The powerhouse future Rebel stands at 5-foot-11  and 190 pounds and ranks as the No. 5 overall running back in his class.

After his de-commitment, it was no surprise Reescano would become one of the most sought-after recruits in the class. Saturday evening, Kedrick took to Twitter to announce just where he would be heading.

As we say in the recruiting world, this is a huge get for the Rebels’ offense,  especially that running back room, and it’s a checkmate from Coach Lane Kiffin and Coach Marquel Blackwell. Blackwell has been a staple in the recruitment of Reescano since the Rebel assistant was at University of Houston.

Indeed, relationships DO matter.

The Rebels hosted Reescano and his family back in October, and from then on it was apparent there was great potential for Ole Miss to earn his interest and his commitment.

Fit in the ‘Sip

The Rebels have reloaded with the addition of one of the most dynamic running backs out of Lone Star State and in the 2023 class.

He closed out his senior season at New Caney, rushing for 1,849 yards with 35 touchdowns. The three-year varsity starter and track star closed out his high school career with a total of 4,548 rushing yards and 67 touchdowns.

When he gets the ball, Reescano is extremely strong and can push through defenders with his exceptional agility. He also has a very strong track background as an elite triple jumper in the state of Texas.

The Rebels won big on the recruiting trail with Reescano, and there are still a few days to go until the December 21 Early Signing Day. The commitment of Reescano has been one that many Rebels have hoped for.

The Texan is the third-highest rated Ole Miss pledge of this recruiting class, behind Suntarine Perkins at No. 47 and Ayden Williams No. 90. Who is next? Another Texas Reb? Stay tuned and Merry Flipmas!

Herring-Olvedo sees college football the way championship programs do—from inside the personnel room. Every evaluation, every roster move, every recruiting battle tells a bigger story about identity, culture, and how a program is built to win in December, not just July.

With more than 15 years covering the SEC and the national recruiting landscape, Herring-Olvedo has built a reputation as one of the sport’s most respected personnel-driven voices—blending film evaluation, roster construction, and long-term program vision through a true front-office lens. Her coverage of powerhouse brands like Ole Miss Rebels and Kentucky Wildcatshas consistently gone beyond headlines, focusing instead on the blueprint behind winning programs: development, fit, culture, and recruiting strategy.

That foundation was formed early at Brown University, where she worked in player personnel and recruiting while competing as a student-athlete. Inside those recruiting operations rooms, she learned how elite organizations are truly built—through relentless evaluation, relationship building, projection, and trust in the board. Those experiences shaped the way she studies the game today: part scout, part storyteller, part architect.

Her analysis and reporting have appeared across major platforms including ESPN, NFL coverage spaces, USA Today Sports, and Saturday Down South. She also brought her personnel-minded approach to the airwaves as an on-air analyst for the Wake Up 502 College Football Show on Big X Sports Radio 96.1, where she became known for combining film-room detail with a wider understanding of roster identity and program trajectory.

In 2025, covering the rise of Houston Cougars football under Willie Fritz reignited the part of the sport that first drew her into football—the culture, the edge, the belief that a roster can reshape an entire city. That inspiration led to the launch of Coogs 365 Sports, a platform built to cover Houston athletics through a true scouting and recruiting lens while connecting the emotion of the game to the heartbeat of H-Town.

Now, Herring-Olvedo returns to The Rebel Walk where with an even deeper perspective shaped by years inside recruiting circles, national SEC coverage, and hands-on evaluation experience. Her return brings a familiar voice back to Ole Miss coverage—but with an evolved lens rooted in roster architecture, player development, and the modern realities of building championship-caliber football in the NIL and portal era.

For Herring-Olvedo, recruiting has never been about stars beside a name. It is about identifying competitors, projecting growth, and building a locker room capable of sustaining success. Her philosophy mirrors the best front offices in football: stack traits, trust culture, and never stop building.
