Softball Adds Ang DeLeon to 2021 Signing Class
OXFORD, Miss. – (Courtesy of Ole Miss Media Relations) Less than a week after inking eight high school players to the 2021 recruiting class on National Signing Day, Ole Miss has announced the addition of California prospect Ang DeLeon. DeLeon becomes the ninth member of head coach Jamie Trachsel‘s first Rebel signing class.

HIGH SCHOOL: A two-time letterwinner at Calaveras High School in San Andreas, California … Helped lead CHS to a 2019 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section runner-up finish and the 2019 Mother Lode League Championship … Had junior season cut short after nine games due to the COVID-19 pandemic … Batted .507 as a sophomore with 27 RBIs … Also posted a fielding percentage of .947 in 2019 … In shortened junior season, registered a .500 batting average with nine runs driven in … Played travel ball for Firecrackers Rico … A four-sport athlete, also competing in volleyball, soccer and tennis … Earned 2018-19 MLL Academic Team honors … Member of Spanish Honors Society and Principal’s Honor Roll.

Evelyn has covered sports for over two decades, beginning her journalism career as a sports writer for a newspaper in Austin, Texas. She attended Texas A&M and majored in English. Evelyn’s love for Ole Miss began when her daughter Katie attended the university on a volleyball scholarship. Evelyn created the Rebel Walk in 2013 and has served as publisher and managing editor since its inception.
