Ole Miss All-American Golson excels at NFL Combine

Ole Miss All-American Golson excels at NFL Combine

Today was the final day of the 2015 NFL Combine in Indianapolis with the defensive backs demonstrating what they could do in drills and physical testing.

Ole Miss’ Senquez Golson showcased some of the many reasons he is a unanimous first-team All American. The speedy DB ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash, twice, and excelled in drills that showed his tremendous ball skills. He will certainly be making my draftkings fantasy football team.

Many NFL Draft experts were impressed with Golson. Draft guru Mike Detillier is one who has been singing Golson’s praises for months now—long before the speedy Rebel became a consensus All-American. The Rebel Walk interviewed Detillier three months ago, and he commented on Golson’s tremendous ability to follow the ball:

“Senquez’ biggest attribute is his ball-reaction skill. He finds the ball so quickly—and he can catch it. You cannot teach finding the ball in flight. You either have it or you don’t. Senquez is very talented in that area.” — NFL Draft Expert Mike Detillier

Detillier, who is in Indianapolis for the Combine, also told The Rebel Walk in an interview earlier today that Senquez has had a very good Combine.

“He ran a 4.46, about what I thought. But his ball skills can’t be taught.”

Detillier also commented on Golson’s meetings with representatives of NFL teams. “Senquez’ interviews went well. Teams are impressed with his maturity.”

NFL Network’s analyst Mike Maycock was also impressed with Golson’s abilities. He examined game film of three of Golson’s SEC-leading 10 interceptions. “Watch him track the football,” Maycock said. “Hip to hip, he becomes the receiver and makes it look easy,” he added, echoing Detillier’s comments about Golson’s ability to follow the ball. With only 66 days remaining before the 2015 NFL Draft begins on April 30, 2015, it certainly appears as if Senquez Golson has put himself in prime position to play football on Sundays.

Stay tuned to The Rebel Walk for more information on Golson, as well as an update on All-American Safety Cody Prewitt’s performance.
