Ole Miss lands Oxford High School’s very own Ford Wade, 2027 offensive lineman
OXFORD, Miss–Head coach Pete Golding and the Rebels are putting in work in terms of adding to the offensive line, landing a commitment from 2027 Oxford High School three-star lineman Ford Wade.
Wade, a six-foot-four, 300-pound lineman, is a very versatile player. He has the ability to play any position along the offensive line, but he shines in the interior. Wade regularly puts defenders on the ground, beating them with superior power and skill. His game is very complete for a high school player, and he has room to grow on top of that.
The three-star player is not only a good lineman, but he’s a solid third baseman as well. Obviously, he will more than likely be playing only football, but it is interesting to point out, simply because it showcases how good of an athlete he is. His hand movement along the line is perhaps the most impressive part of his game. A player can have strength, but if they don’t know where to put their hands, that strength is essentially null and void. Wade definitely knows where to put his hands, and he wins a lot of the battles in the trenches because of that.
Wade is from Oxford, following in the footsteps of players like DK Metcalf, who also played for the Rebels. Obviously, Wade is not a wide receiver, but his talent is immense, and he will be playing for his hometown college, which usually adds extra fanfare as well. His commitment continues to showcase a mentality shift for the Rebels in terms of recruiting, focusing on depth rather than very few high-quality players only. Wade is a quality player and will certainly be a quality piece for offensive line coach Paul Garrison to mold and develop into perhaps the next great Rebel lineman.
