Ole Miss Offers 2027 Texas QB Brice McCurdy Amid Summer Recruiting Push

OXFORD, Miss. — As summer workouts kick off and the excitement of Camp Season unfolds in the vibrant Velvet Ditch, Ole Miss is making waves in the recruitment game. With strategic moves thanks to Lane Kiffin and company’s keen eye for talent—the Rebels are on a mission to secure top-tier athletes for the long haul.

The offers are flying out, not just to elite playmakers but also to promising rising stars. The Texas Flood is once again flowing back to “The ‘Sip,” as Ole Miss sets its sights on an emerging dual-threat quarterback: Brice McCurdy.

Hailing from Robinson High School in Waco, TX, McCurdy ranks as the No. 29 QB in the 2027 class and stands at No. 49 overall among Texas athletes.

With impressive stats from his sophomore season—2,016 passing yards, 17 touchdowns (albeit with 15 interceptions), and a completion rate of 62.8%—it’s clear why the Rebels want to get on board early. Additionally, he showcased his versatility by rushing for 410 yards and four touchdowns, averaging an impressive 8.04 yards per carry!

McCurdy’s standout performance helped propel Robinson to an 8-3 record and their first playoff appearance in nearly seven years—a true testament to his impact on the team.

As McCurdy gears up for his junior campaign, expectations are sky-high; after all, this talented signal caller has only scratched the surface of his potential. This spring has revealed him as a hidden gem, attracting attention from programs like Houston, TCU, Syracuse—and now Ole Miss—with early offers rolling in.

I had the chance to catch a glimpse of McCurdy during the Under Armour Houston weekend, where his athleticism was undeniable. It was clear that skills honed through baseball and track have significantly contributed to his development as a quarterback. Watching him throw with precision from various positions while reading defenses made it evident that he possesses both talent and poise.

We recently caught up with Brice to discuss his excitement about the offer from Ole Miss.

It meant a lot to get an offer from Ole Miss. They’re a big-time program in the SEC!

Brice McCurdy on the offer from Ole Miss

As more programs take notice of his talent this summer, McCurdy highlighted what stands out about how Ole Miss has recruited him: “My relationship with Coach Brown has stood out the most so far.”

Continuing to make waves on the camp circuit—from Under Armour events to Elite 11 regionals—McCurdy knows exactly what he wants in future programs, and his focus remains sharp on developing into an elite quarterback.

I’m looking for great education and coaches who can bring competitive athletes together.

Brice McCurdy

McCurdy is  enthusiastic about exploring various programs and is ready to dive deeper into everything they have to offer. While he does have a camp schedule in the works, he’s keeping it under wraps—for now. But that hasn’t stopped some powerhouse programs, including Ole Miss, from vying for his attention.

As the Lone Star State’s promising quarterback, McCurdy’s choices are plentiful, and the competition is heating up! Stay tuned for more updates as McCurdy gears up for his camp season.

Lee Ann Herring-Olvedo

Herring-Olvedo sees college football the way championship programs do—from inside the personnel room. Every evaluation, every roster move, every recruiting battle tells a bigger story about identity, culture, and how a program is built to win in December, not just July.

With more than 15 years covering the SEC and the national recruiting landscape, Herring-Olvedo has built a reputation as one of the sport’s most respected personnel-driven voices—blending film evaluation, roster construction, and long-term program vision through a true front-office lens. Her coverage of powerhouse brands like Ole Miss Rebels and Kentucky Wildcatshas consistently gone beyond headlines, focusing instead on the blueprint behind winning programs: development, fit, culture, and recruiting strategy.

That foundation was formed early at Brown University, where she worked in player personnel and recruiting while competing as a student-athlete. Inside those recruiting operations rooms, she learned how elite organizations are truly built—through relentless evaluation, relationship building, projection, and trust in the board. Those experiences shaped the way she studies the game today: part scout, part storyteller, part architect.

Her analysis and reporting have appeared across major platforms including ESPN, NFL coverage spaces, USA Today Sports, and Saturday Down South. She also brought her personnel-minded approach to the airwaves as an on-air analyst for the Wake Up 502 College Football Show on Big X Sports Radio 96.1, where she became known for combining film-room detail with a wider understanding of roster identity and program trajectory.

In 2025, covering the rise of Houston Cougars football under Willie Fritz reignited the part of the sport that first drew her into football—the culture, the edge, the belief that a roster can reshape an entire city. That inspiration led to the launch of Coogs 365 Sports, a platform built to cover Houston athletics through a true scouting and recruiting lens while connecting the emotion of the game to the heartbeat of H-Town.

Now, Herring-Olvedo returns to The Rebel Walk where with an even deeper perspective shaped by years inside recruiting circles, national SEC coverage, and hands-on evaluation experience. Her return brings a familiar voice back to Ole Miss coverage—but with an evolved lens rooted in roster architecture, player development, and the modern realities of building championship-caliber football in the NIL and portal era.

For Herring-Olvedo, recruiting has never been about stars beside a name. It is about identifying competitors, projecting growth, and building a locker room capable of sustaining success. Her philosophy mirrors the best front offices in football: stack traits, trust culture, and never stop building.
