Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart Set to Play ‘Last One’ as His Rebels Head to Gator Bowl
OXFORD, Miss. — In this age of transfers and opt-outs, it’s more surprising when a school’s senior players actually decide to finish a season with their teammates and play in their bowl game. And that pleasant surprise is exactly what is happening at Ole Miss as senior quarterback Jaxson Dart announced via Instagram Monday that he will be playing a ‘last one’ as his Rebels head to the Gator Bowl to take on Duke on January 2, 2025.
Even though No. 14 Ole Miss did not make the 12-team College Football Playoffs, the Rebels’ quarterback has had an outstanding season and left his mark on the record books. In 12 games this season, Dart has completed 68.6 percent of his passes, which is a career-high. He’s thrown for 3,875 yards and 25 touchdowns, both career-highs.
In this year’s Egg Bowl, Dart surpassed Eli Manning as the all-time career passing leader for Ole Miss, topping Manning’s previous career passing yards record of 10,119.
Dart now has 10,213 passing yards and has assumed the title of winningest quarterback in Ole Miss program history. He also set the record for most total offense in a single game by an Ole Miss player in Week 10 against Arkansas.
With defensive backs Trey Amos and Trey Washington announcing via X that they, too, will be playing in the Gator Bowl, Rebel fans can be hopeful that there will not be very many opt outs from this team.
If Ole Miss wins this bowl game, the 9-3 Rebels will reach 10 wins on the season. Following last year’s 11-win season, this would be the first time Ole Miss had marked back-to-back 10-win seasons since the 1959 and 1960 teams. Quite an accomplishment — and they’ll be led by Dart at quarterback.
