Ole Miss Picks Up Big Commit as EDGE Tylon Lee ‘Flips to the ‘Sip’

OXFORD, Miss. — With just five weekends left before the early signing period, each is pivotal on the Ole Miss recruiting front. On Saturday, the Rebels picked up a 26-14 win over Oklahoma in Vaught-Hemingway in front of another record-breaking crowd. Also in attendance were some of the nation’s top recruits — and even a few commits from other schools — who were on hand to watch Ole Miss prevail. One such player is EDGE Tylon Lee who liked what he saw so much that he has decided to ‘Flip to the ‘Sip.’

What started out as a visit for the 2025 3-star out of Pace High School in Milton, Florida turned into a flip from the former UCF commit. After watching a dominating second-half in the trenches for the Rebel d-line, it didn’t take long for Lee to decide he wanted to join in on the party in the backfield.

The 6-foot-4, 245 pounder stands as the No. 37 edge in the nation and the No. 68 overall athlete to come out of the Sunshine State. This marks the 18th commitment for Lane Kiffin and the Rebels in their 2025 class. The former UCF commit holds quite an impressive offer sheet that matches his prowess on the field.

He held offers from: Miami, Kansas, Arkansas, Florida, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Memphis, Mississippi State, Penn State, South Carolina, and Tennessee, to name a few.

Lee closed his junior campaign in 2023 with 61 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles in 10 contests.

In 2022 as a sophomore, Lee totaled 88 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 24 quarterback hurries, 3.5 sacks and 3 pass breakups which helped Pace go 7-4 in Florida’s 4S classification.

This season, Lee’s Patriots team stands at 8-1 on the season and will close out district play this upcoming Friday, Nov.1 on the road when they face Milton (FL).

So let’s take a quick look at the latest addition to the Ole Miss defensive juggernaut. It is easy to see why many teams were pursuing his talent, despite his commitment to UCF.

Here’s what stands out to me:

  • Possesses a quick twitch, gets off the ball quick
  • Has a high motor with good feet (Motor never stops on him)
  • Plays with heart that cannot be taught
  • Plays with great physicality and tackles well
  • Has the perfect frame with a long wing span

Overall, he already has a strong set of skills and checks all the boxes.  His athleticism is top-notch, and he’s another versatile athlete who plays basketball and is on the track and field team.

What  a way to culminate another ‘Party in the ‘Sip’ weekend. Hats off to defensive line coach Randall Joyner for another big recruiting win as he continues to build up and beef up the defensive front for Ole Miss.

Lee Ann Herring-Olvedo

Lee Ann serves as the Director of Recruiting for The Rebel Walk. She sees college football the way championship programs do—from inside the personnel room. Every evaluation, every roster move, every recruiting battle tells a bigger story about identity, culture, and how a program is built to win in December, not just July.

With more than 15 years covering the SEC and the national recruiting landscape, Herring-Olvedo has built a reputation as one of the sport’s most respected personnel-driven voices—blending film evaluation, roster construction, and long-term program vision through a true front-office lens. Her coverage of powerhouse brands like Ole Miss Rebels and Kentucky Wildcatshas consistently gone beyond headlines, focusing instead on the blueprint behind winning programs: development, fit, culture, and recruiting strategy.

That foundation was formed early at Brown University, where she worked in player personnel and recruiting while competing as a student-athlete. Inside those recruiting operations rooms, she learned how elite organizations are truly built—through relentless evaluation, relationship building, projection, and trust in the board. Those experiences shaped the way she studies the game today: part scout, part storyteller, part architect.

Her analysis and reporting have appeared across major platforms including ESPN, NFL coverage spaces, USA Today Sports, and Saturday Down South. She also brought her personnel-minded approach to the airwaves as an on-air analyst for the Wake Up 502 College Football Show on Big X Sports Radio 96.1, where she became known for combining film-room detail with a wider understanding of roster identity and program trajectory.

In 2025, covering the rise of Houston Cougars football under Willie Fritz reignited the part of the sport that first drew her into football—the culture, the edge, the belief that a roster can reshape an entire city. That inspiration led to the launch of Coogs 365 Sports, a platform built to cover Houston athletics through a true scouting and recruiting lens while connecting the emotion of the game to the heartbeat of H-Town.

Now, Herring-Olvedo returns to The Rebel Walk where with an even deeper perspective shaped by years inside recruiting circles, national SEC coverage, and hands-on evaluation experience. Her return brings a familiar voice back to Ole Miss coverage—but with an evolved lens rooted in roster architecture, player development, and the modern realities of building championship-caliber football in the NIL and portal era.

For Herring-Olvedo, recruiting has never been about stars beside a name. It is about identifying competitors, projecting growth, and building a locker room capable of sustaining success. Her philosophy mirrors the best front offices in football: stack traits, trust culture, and never stop building.
