BREAKING: Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin receive commitment from the nation’s No. 1 transfer portal linebacker, Arkansas’ Chris “Pooh” Paul, Jr.

OXFORD, Miss. — The Portal King, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, is alive and well as Arkansas transfer linebacker Chris Paul, Jr. announced his commitment to Kiffin and Ole Miss via Twitter Friday night.

Paul, nicknamed “Pooh,” entered the portal earlier this week and is the No. 1 transfer linebacker according to the On3 Industry Transfer Portal Rankings.

As The Rebel Walk mentioned earlier this week, Paul visited Ole Miss on Tuesday after Coach Kiffin visited the transfer in Fayetteville Monday. Paul, who announced his transfer plans on November 27, will have two years of eligibility remaining.

He chose the Rebels over offers from: Oklahoma, South Carolina, A&M, Auburn, Missouri, Florida State, Baylor, UAB, SMU, Temple and Louisville.

Paul played four games in the 2021 season for the Hogs, participating in 28 games throughout his career as an Arkansas player. He has notched 138 total tackles and six sacks across his collegiate career and was named a member of the freshman All-SEC team in 2022.

This season in 2023, Paul collected the second-most tackles (74) on the team for the Razorbacks. The sophomore, a Cordele, Georgia native, will be expected to help fill the absence left with the departure of Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste, Monty Montgomery, and Ashanti Cistrunk.

Coach Kiffin and staff are hot on the recruiting trail and have a strong visitors lineup planned for this weekend. Stay tuned and we will keep you posted on all the latest on Ole Miss football!
