Quick Hits: No. 12 Ole Miss Falls to Oklahoma, 80-70

OXFORD, Miss. – No. 12 Ole Miss women’s basketball fell to the No. 23 Oklahoma Sooners, 80-70, on Thursday night inside the SJB Pavilion. Here are some quick hits from the game.

Ole Miss (1-1, 0-0 SEC) was led in the game by Snudda Collins with 15 points.  A total of five players reached double figures in scoring: KK Deans (12), Marquesha Davis (11), Kennedy Todd-Williams (13) and Kharyssa Richardson (10).

The Rebels’ defense made it difficult for the Sooners to get anything going from downtown as they were 0-for-4 in the first quarter, 2-for-8 at halftime.

But Oklahoma (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) kept the game close by going 9-for-10 from the free-throw line in the first quarter.

Oklahoma was led in the game by Skylar Vann with 24 points. The Sooners had three players score in double figures as Sahar Williams (13) and Lexy Keys (11) joined Vann.

At the start of the second quarter, the Sooners jumped out to a seven-point advantage twice before the Rebels could come back to take the lead twice before halftime.

Ole Miss took a 39-38 advantage into the locker room at the half.

In the third quarter, each team went on a run as Oklahoma took its largest lead in the quarter at five points, 56-51, (3:31) and 62-57 with (0:17). Ole Miss battled back to cut it to 58-57 in the final minute of the quarter.

Oklahoma opened the fourth, on a 4-0 run before the Rebels were able to cut Oklahoma’s lead down to five points at 66-61 with 7:49 remaining. Oklahoma, however, finished strong to end with the 10-point lead.

The Sooners dominated the Rebels in the paint, scoring 42 points in the paint to the Rebels’ 26.
