Tight end Caden Prieskorn knows Ole Miss must prepare well this week for matchup against Georgia

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss travels to Athens this weekend to take on the Georgia Bulldogs, winners of  26 straight games. The Bulldogs’ most recent victory came over the No. 12 Missouri Tigers, 30-21. Tight-end Caden Prieskorn talked with media Monday and spoke on the matchup and just how important this game is for him and the Rebs.

This is probably the biggest game of our career because you’re going on the road against a team that hasn’t lost in 26 games, so we know how big it is. We have to come ready, be prepared, and keep playing how we’re playing.

Against A&M this past Saturday, the Rebels collected over 500 yards of offense, showing versatility on the ground and in the air, and that could play a big part in giving Ole Miss a chance during Saturday’s contest. Prieskorn is averaging 19.8 yard per reception this season.

Against Missouri, the Georgia defense essentially won the game, intercepting the Tigers on their last two drives, both in the fourth quarter. Besides the two interceptions, the Mizzou offense did an impressive job responding throughout the game. Quarterback Brady Cook threw for 212 yards and a touchdown, while the Tigers also rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown, gaining 4.4 yards per carry.

Seeing the success Mizzou had in the run game should provide some confidence for Ole Miss as the Rebels have been able to run the ball with efficiency ever since the Alabama game — when Prieskorn returned from injury.

From then on, the Rebs have rushed for at least 130 yards in every game through the deadly combination of Quinshon Judkins, Ulysses Bentley IV, and Jaxson Dart.

But despite the achievements on the ground, Georgia has a unique caliber of discipline, one that Prieskorn showed respect for.

“They have a really good front seven, six. They do a bunch of movements. They’re very smart, with a bunch of good players…We’re going to have to be prepared,” Prieskorn said.

Whether the Rebs need to expose Georgia in the run or pass game, they have proven they have the ability to execute both, as they proved a number of times against A&M. The Rebels’ steady confidence that is being spread throughout the locker room is a feeling Prieskorn made mention of earlier today.

That was our main goal coming into this season. I feel like people are really, really starting to believe we have a shot to go to the college football playoff. You see it in people’s eyes that we can go do this thing.
