Party in the ‘Sip: Ole Miss recruits react to the Rebels’ exciting 55-49 win over LSU

OXFORD, Miss. — What an SEC West showdown in Oxford in week five! The now No. 16  Ole Miss Rebels took down the  No. 13 Bayou Bengals 55-49 in one of the most intense games of the season. In a duel until the final seconds, the Rebels rallied from two scores down late in the fourth quarter and emerged victorious. The win keeps Ole Miss alive in the SEC West as the team prepares to host Arkansas at the Vaught this weekend in another Saturday night showdown.

I don’t believe there was any better stage to showcase to the Rebs’ key recruiting targets just what makes Ole Miss so special. From the Grove, to the Walk of Champions, to the first-class game environment and facilities, to the all-time record attendance at the Vaught, the recruits were treated to the ‘greatest show on Earth.’

The 66,703 in attendance was a record crowd for a football game in Oxford. The sold-out crowd included more than 10,000 students. The Rebel student body set yet another student section attendance record as the largest class in the university’s history continues to pack out the north end zone.

You can bet the recruits in attendance took note — as did head coach Lane Kiffin as he thanked fans after the game.

For them to show up today after us losing last year and set the record for highest attendance in school history for a game, we say ‘do things better than they’ve ever been done before,’ is a motto we have…We could feel it in the game and certainly could feel it in the fourth quarter. It was really neat to have that electric environment, so thanks for that.

Now as October begins and we inch closer to the December early signing day, Ole Miss looks to solidify players for the 2024 class and continue to attract the key 2025s and up.

The Rebels hosted some of their top commits for the LSU game, as well as plenty of their top in-state and out-of-state targets. The Rebel Walk caught up with some of the athletes who took in the big weekend in the ‘Sip. Here is what they had to share on the win and the vibe in the Vaught.

It was a balanced attack from start to finish. Coach Nix had his WRs ready to go. Ole Miss took it to LSU!  Great SEC football atmosphere. Fans are very passionate about the Rebels. Fans storming the field was crazy. They’re doing a great job with the facilities upgrades.”

CJ Wiley, 2025, 4-star WR, Milton (GA)

What stood out to me the most was the competitiveness each team brought to the field.”

Caden Moss, 2027 OT, Jackson Academy (MS)

The crowd definitely stood out the most. It was packed out, and the fans were very hospitable. At almost every turn I heard from a fan, “Come to the sip, we want you!” The atmosphere from that game was just different.

Katrell Web, 2026 IOL, Collins Hill (GA)

I had a great time. I liked the way the offense operated and both run and passed the ball. They mixed it up very well. The vibe was super good; it was a great atmosphere.

Amauri  “Juice” Anderson, 2025 ATH, Milton (GA)

It was indeed a night to remember, one you can bet many of the Rebel prospects will continue to think about on their recruiting journey.

Stay tuned to The Rebel Walk as we will bring you more from the Ole Miss prospects. #ComeToTheSip
