Quarterback Jaxson Dart gets the start for Ole Miss against Mercer; Rebels release full depth chart

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss will start junior Jaxson Dart at quarterback in the Rebels’ season opener against Mercer. ESPN’s Chris Low first reported the news.

Dart, who started 12 of Ole Miss’ 13 games last season, threw for almost 3,000 yards and threw 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 2022. He ran for 614 yards and one TD and was the third-leading rusher on the team .

During fall camp, Dart took the majority of first-team reps, while Oklahoma State transfer Spencer Sanders worked some with the ones but mostly the twos.

Dart and Sanders, both, appeared to express a little frustration this last week that head coach Lane Kiffin had not yet named a starter. As for Coach Kiffin, he knows he has a very talented room of signal callers.

We’re excited about that room, adding so many numbers in the offseason, really from one to four. It’s been really competitive and the future looks bright. We’re excited to have two returning starters that have played in really big games. That’s a great situation to be in.”
