Auburn transfer guard Allen Flanigan commits to Ole Miss, will join his father in Oxford

OXFORD —  Transfer guard Allen Flanigan announced on Tuesday what head coach Chris Beard and many Ole Miss fans were hoping to hear — the former Auburn player has committed to be a Rebel.

The 6-foot-6 Flanigan, who entered the portal earlier in May, is a graduate transfer whose father, former Auburn assistant Wes Flanagan, is on Coach Beard’s first staff in Oxford.

“Through a lot of deliberation and the support of my family I’ve decided to further my playing career at Ole Miss,” Flanigan relayed in a post on his personal Instagram account.

“This is a family based decision. Thank you Auburn and Coach (Bruce) Pearl for all you’ve done for me and my family. My experience on the Plains was truly a blessing and will forever be a part of me. I am truly excited and grateful for my new opportunity with Rebel Nation. Hotty Toddy.”

Throughout his four years with the Tigers, Flanigan played in 114 contests, making 69 starts, while averaging 8.5 points per game.

Last year under Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl, Flanagan averaged 10.1 points in 34 games. He shot 44.2% from the floor and 33.3% from 3-point range. He also averaged 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Flanagan is the fifth transfer addition of the offseason for Ole Miss, joining Moussa Cisse, Jamarion Sharp, Austin Nunez and Brandon Murray. That class ranks No. 7 nationally, according to 247Sports, and is second in the SEC behind only Arkansas.
