REACTION VIDEO: Ole Miss Baseball Players Find out They’ve Made the NCAA Tourney

OXFORD, Miss. — Monday morning was a memorable day for Ole Miss baseball as the Rebels found out they did, indeed, make the 2022 NCAA Baseball Tournament after so many had counted them out. This marks the 25th time in Ole Miss history the Rebels have made the NCAA Tournament, and it’s the 18th in 22 seasons under Coach Bianco.

Ole Miss is the No. 3 seed in the Coral Gables Regional that is scheduled for June 3-6 at Mark Light Field.

Miami is the No. 1 seed in the regional and the No. 6 seed overall in the nation, followed by No. 2 Arizona, and No. 4 Canisius.

SEC TEAMS IN THE TOURNEY

The Rebels finished the season 32-22, overall, and 14-16 in the SEC, winning eight of their last 10 games. But after Ole Miss lost 3-1 to Vanderbilt, the bubble was a very small place, hence the so-called experts counting the Rebels out.

Conventional wisdom had Ole Miss battling with fellow SEC teams Alabama and Kentucky to gain entry to the postseason tourney. As it turned out, neither the Tide nor the Wildcats made the field of 64.

A total of nine SEC teams did make the tournament: Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, LSU, Auburn, and Vanderbilt.
