Ole Miss cornerback Deane Leonard drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers

Ole Miss cornerback Deane Leonard has been selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Prior to Ole Miss, Leonard played three seasons at the University of Calgary where he recorded 47 tackles, one tackle for loss, a single sack, and six interceptions. Those numbers earned him two selections to the All-Canadian Team en route to winning the 2019 Vanier Cup.

The speedy Canadian transferred to Ole Miss two years ago. Last season, he was a key component of an Ole Miss defense that improved dramatically while helping the Rebels to their first 10-win regular season in school history.

In 2021, the 6-foot, 195-pound Leonard notched 50 tackles, seven pass breakups and one tackle for loss.

He impressed NFL scouts at the Ole Miss Pro Day, recording a 4.39 in the 40-yard dash.

Congrats to Deane and the Chargers!Β
