The Rebel Walk Roundtable: Our Week 12 SEC Picks
With the #1 team in the land coming to town, the Rebels gear up for their toughest test. Meanwhile, other SEC action is happening, with major implications.
Our records so far this season…
Land Teller: 62-20
Hays Dubberly: 62-20
Ross Montgomery: 61-20
Jake Evans: 61-21
Evie Van Pelt: 57-25
6:00 P.M. – #1 LSU (9-0, 5-0 SEC) vs Ole Miss (4-6, 2-4 SEC)
Spread: LSU -21
Jake: To me, Ole Miss doesn’t have a dynamic enough offense to move the ball consistently. I see any points coming from home runs plays. I think we keep it close for a bit, because we have nothing to lose. In the end though, Burrow will torch the Rebs’ secondary, and eventually, LSU will beat us down and wear the Rebs out. Tigers.
Evie: My heart says it would be a wonderful story for the seniors who have stuck with Ole Miss over the last 4-5 years to go out with a win over No. 1 LSU, but my head (and Vegas) says that’s not likely. Still, I’m old enough to have seen stranger things happen. And I’m already in last place in the Roundtable, so what the heck? Rebels win this one.
Land: Who’s ready to get sick of watching Mac Brown trout on the field?? I AM!!!
Hays: Although it would be a ton of fun to watch the goalpost come down again, I just do not see it. LSU’s offense is too dynamic while their secondary has ballhawks. The Rebels will keep it close for a half but will not have enough steam to get the job done.
Ross: The Landshark defense will come to play and hold the LSU offense in check for most of the first half, but the Rebel offense will not be able to move the ball at all. Joe Burrow and the Tigers pull away in the second half. Also, let the band play neck.
11:00 A.M. – #5 Alabama (8-1, 5-1 SEC) vs. Mississippi State (4-5, 2-4 SEC)
Spread: ALA -20.5
Jake: Tide rolls after a tough loss last week.
Evie: Alabama takes its frustration out on State, and I can get behind that. Tide dominates.
Land: OH BOY Bama is mad and I am SO glad State gets the business end of a 66-7 game
Hays: After a loss, Nick Saban kills the next opponent. I expect this trend to continue in a swift beatdown.
Ross: As Joe Moorehead said earlier this week, “We do not have to do anything extraordinary (to beat Alabama), we just have to do the ordinary extraordinarily good.” LOL keep telling yourself that coach. Bama pounds state.
11:00 A.M. – #11 Florida (8-2, 5-2 SEC) vs Missouri (5-4, 2-3 SEC)
Spread: FLA -7
Jake: The fact that this line is only 7 scares me. Florida will win, but that line just freaks me out. What does Vegas know that we don’t? Gators win…maybe just by a few?
Evie: This one will be close, as the spread indicates. Ultimately, I think the Gators emerge with a win.
Land: Mizzou could’ve competed for the East…Could’ve being the key word there.
Hays: Missouri’s Kelly Bryant will be back this week, which would give the Gators a test. The Tigers are a completely different team when at home. However, I just think this Gator defense is too stout for the Tigers to generate enough offense.
Ross: Mizzou is back at home for the first time since playing the Rebs on October 12th. The Tigers are undefeated at home and Kelly Bryant is back. Upset time in Columbia.
2:30 P.M. – #4 Georgia (8-1, 5-1 SEC) vs #12 Auburn (7-2, 4-2 SEC)
Spread: UGA -2.5
Jake: This is the kind of crazy game Auburn will win. UGA has struggled the last few weeks on offense, and I think Auburn’s defense will make them pay. Pains me to say, but I think Auburn wins.
Evie: Roll on, Gus Bus. Malzahn and his talented defensive line win this one.
Land: Georgia can prove why they hopped Bama this week and I think they will…#GUSBUS where ya at??
Hays: Georgia has struggled offensively all season long, and that Auburn defense is nasty. This will be a low scoring game, but the Dawgs just edge it out on the Plains.
Ross: #4 Penn State lost on the road last week. #4 Georgia will do the same this week. Tigers win.
2:30 P.M. – Kentucky (4-5, 2-5 SEC) vs Vanderbilt (2-7, 1-5 SEC)
Spread: UK -10.5
Jake: This is about as exciting as watching paint dry. Cats get an ugly win in a snoozer.
Evie: Kentucky wins. That’s about all I’ve got for this game.
Land: BOY this one will be ugly but if you lose to Western Kentucky you probably can’t beat Regular Kentucky.
Hays: Kentucky wins this game as they approach bowl eligibility. Vanderbilt continues to spiral as Derek Mason’s days are numbered.
Ross: *yawwwwnnn* Kentucky wins.
6:30 P.M. – South Carolina (4-6, 3-4 SEC) vs Texas A&M (6-3, 3-2 SEC)
Spread: A&M -10.5
Jake: South Carolina has struggled since beating UGA. A&M isn’t much better, but at home, they have the advantage. Aggie W.
Evie: The South Carolina AD just gave Muschamp the dreaded vote of confidence–but it won’t matter as the Aggies will get their 7th win over the Gamecocks.
Land: $75 Million seems like a lot of money to pay someone who’s going to go 7-5 but Jimbo gets a W this week.
Hays: The Gamecocks will end the season 4-8, and the rumblings for Will Muschamp to be fired will amplify.
Ross: This won’t be much of a game. Aggies win.
