Three Rebels named to Coaches’ All-SEC Team

OXFORD, MS – Three Ole Miss Rebels have been selected to the preseason All-Southeastern Conference teams as voted on by the league’s coaches, the conference announced Wednesday.

Senior defensive end Marquis Haynes was named to the first team defense. Sophomore offensive tackle Greg Little and senior kicker Gary Wunderlich were second-team picks.

Haynes, a two-time All-SEC pick selection as a sophomore and junior, ranks third in school history with 24.5 career sacks and fourth with 36.5 tackles for loss. The Jacksonville, Florida native has also led the Rebels in sacks all three years: 7.5 in 2014, 10 in 2015, and 7 in 2016.

Haynes is currently on the watch lists for the the Bednarik Award and the Nagurski Trophy, going to the nation’s best defensive player.

Little played in every game last season as a true freshman, starting in five. The left tackle from Allen, Texas has been named to the preseason watch list for the Outland Trophy.

Last year, Little helped protect the Ole Miss signal-callers who led the SEC and were ranked 13th nationally in passing yards per game (314.9 ypg). He finished a strong first campaign by earning Freshman All-American honors by Rivals.com and being named Freshman All-SEC by SEC coaches.

Wunderlich was nothing short of spectacular last year. The Memphis, Tennessee native finished 2016 as the nation’s most accurate kicker.
