Ole Miss DT Herbert Moore out for season with torn ACL
Ole Miss took a hit to its defensive line Friday morning as the school announced redshirt sophomore Herbert Moore tore his ACL at the Rebels’ first official practice of the fall on Thursday. The unexpected injury will keep him on the sideline for the entire 2015-16 season.
The 6-foot-1, 322-pound defensive tackle played in six games last season for Ole Miss. The former three-star prospect out of East High School recorded three tackles as a reserve nose tackle.
Moore, a fan favorite on social media for his positive outlook, spoke about his injury via Twitter on Friday morning, stating: “Me and the man above will get through this. One day at a time. Small setback for a major comeback.”
I’m down for the season but me and the man above will get closer through this journey. Appreciate everyone that’s with me #GodGotMe ????

The deeply spiritual Moore also added this tweet:
This is just another chapter in gods book. It was already written before it happened. I have to keep reading to see howGreatTheEndingWillBe?

Though the Rebels will miss Moore, his position is fortunately one at which the Rebels have a bit of depth this season. Defensive Coordinator Dave Wommack spoke about the state of the defense at Wednesday’s media day: “We just have more depth along the defensive line and more quality depth than we did last year,” he said. “We have a lot of quality players there.”
The Rebels will have a stout defense with the likes of defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche and defensive backs Tony Conner and Mike Hilton leading the way. Ole Miss finished the 2014 season ranked No. 1 in in scoring defense, holding its opponents to 208 total points–an average of 16 points per game.
The Rebel Walk wishes “Big Herb” the best in his surgery and rehabilitation.
