No. 10 Men’s Golf Lights it Up at NCAA Regional, Tied for Second Place
BERMUDA RUN, N.C. (Release)—A historic second day at the NCAA Winston-Salem Regional for the No. 10 Ole Miss men’s golf team elevated them up the leaderboard into a tie for second place on Tuesday at the Bermuda Run Country Club.
Behind 23 total birdies on the day, the Rebels finished at 15-under par, the lowest round among the 14-team field between the first two days. Their mark of -15 sets a new program best for a round in relation to par at an NCAA event, ties their best-ever postseason round with this season’s performance at the SEC Championships, and ranks as the eighth-best round ever in school history.
Beginning on the 10th hole today, Cameron Tankersley picked up right where he left off yesterday, knocking in seven birdies on the day to move to 10-under for the tournament and slide into a tie for second individually.
Sitting at one-over par on the day through the first five holes, Collins Trolio rebounded with an impeccable next 13, sinking six birdies including four on his final six holes. He would walk off the final green with a five-under 66, setting a new career-best for a single round while moving up into the top 10 on the individual leaderboard.
Tom Fischer began his day with a solid front nine before knocking in four birdies on his back nine, keeping himself in the top 10 as well while moving to six under across the first two rounds.
Finn Meister would post a one-under 70 to help fuel the team’s incredible performance, while Cohen Trolio shot an impressive 72.
Ole Miss will look to remain in the top five for an invite to the NCAA Championship, as they aim to continue today’s momentum into the third and final round beginning tomorrow morning.
