Ole Miss football hires Corey Dennis, former QB coach at Ohio State
OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss has hired Corey Dennis, the former quarterbacks coach at Ohio State. It is thought Dennis will take the vacancy on staff that came open when Rebels’ offensive analyst Dane Stevens left to be the offensive coordinator at West Georgia. As of Friday morning, Dennis is officially listed on the Ole Miss football staff directory as an analyst.
Dennis reportedly had been hired by Utah as an analyst after it appeared Bill O’Brien would be the Buckeye’s new offensive coordinator and QB coach. O’Brien has since taken the job at Boston College.
Whatever the circuitous route, Dennis will be coming to Oxford. He spent nine years with Ohio State, beginning as an intern in 2015 and a grad assistant in 2016. He spent time in quality control before garnering a full-time position on the Buckeyes’ staff in 2o20.
For the past four seasons, Dennis has been Ohio State’s quarterbacks coach — and has recruited and coached some of the nation’s best.
Dennis recruited and coached first round pick Dwayne Haskins and later Justin Fields, who was an All-American quarterback. He also coached former Ohio State QB and current Houston Texans QB CJ Stroud, who was named Heisman Trophy Finalist, Big Ten Quarterback of the Year and Big Ten Player of the year.
Additionally, Dennis was the primary recruiter for former Buckeye and current Texas Longhorn QB, Quinn Ewers, the No. 2 overall recruit in 2022, as well as 2022 No. 1 overall recruit Devin Brown.
Dennis played wide receiver at Georgia Tech, competing in 54 total games throughout his career, one in which the Yellow Jackets won two ACC Division titles.
Dennis’ father is Steve Dennis, who played collegiately for Georgia and served as AD at Troy from 2005-2012. His wife, Nicki, is the daughter of former Ohio State legendary coach Urban Meyer.
