Ole Miss lands at No. 12 in USA Today Amway Preseason Coaches Poll
Ole Miss enters the 2016 season with high expectations following a 10-3 finish a season ago, and on Thursday the Rebels found themselves ranked 12th in the country in USA Today’s Preseason Amway Coaches Poll.
Ole Miss is one of six programs from the Southeastern Conference who appear in the top 25. Defending national champion Alabama is the No. 1 team in the country with Clemson, Oklahoma, Florida State and Ohio State rounding out the top five.
LSU and Tennessee join the Crimson Tide in the top 10, landing at No. 6 and No. 10, respectively. In the bottom half of the poll, Georgia finds itself at No. 16 and Florida ends up at No. 25. With the release of the preseason poll, the SEC looks set to begin another dominant season.
According to SportsBettingDime, Alabama is favored to repeat as national champions with 6-1 odds at the start of the season. The Rebels’ odds are 25-1 to win the national championship and their odds are 9-1 to make the 2016-17 college football playoff.
The site also has Ole Miss’ senior quarterback Chad Kelly at 19-1 odds to win the 2016 Heisman Trophy.
