Rebel Walk Recruiting Game of the Week: Ole Miss target Cardae Mack leading his Atascocita team vs. Summer Creek

Rebel Walk Recruiting Game of the Week: Ole Miss target Cardae Mack leading his Atascocita team vs. Summer Creek

HUMBLE, Texas — It’s another fall Friday, and there are plenty of big showdowns in high school football. Tonight, The Rebel Walk heads back to Texas for a monster matchup between undefeated and No. 5-ranked Atascocita (4-0) who will be facing a big road test against No. 8 Summer Creek (4-0). There will be plenty of high-caliber talent in this one, but the real question is who are the Rebels watching?

That would be swiftly-rising class of 2026 athlete Cardae Mack out of Atascocita High School. One could call Mack “Mr. Football,” as he has quickly made a name for himself with his explosive speed and his ability to be dominant at multiple positions.

Ranked and recruited as a running back last year, Mack took on a different role this season when he made his debut as the Eagles’ signal caller. The 5-foot-9, 195-pound talent has no problem changing the script and doing whatever it takes to help elevate his team.

During his sophomore campaign, Mack ran for 1,370 yards and scored 18 TDs, averaging 9.26 yards per carry. He also caught 20 passes for 244 yards and 3 TDs.

Again, while he is being recruited collegiately to play running back, there is definitely something to be said for Mack’s versatility. As mentioned, his Atascocita team is ranked No. 5 in the Lone Star State, but also No. 16 in the nation.

Ole Miss has eyes on the speedy Mack, and he has the Rebels on his mind as he has placed Ole Miss in his initial top 10 schools he is considering.

Tonight, the Rebels will get to witness not just his growth as an athlete, but also as a leader on the field. Holding over 20 offers, the 4-star ranks as the No.17 overall RB in the nation in the class of 2026 and the No. 34 overall athlete at any position in the state of Texas.

Currently, his offers include: Arizona, Baylor, Houston, Kansas, Missouri, SMU, South Carolina, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, USC and others.

Mack’s skill-set attracting many college

In watching film, one sees that Mack possesses dynamic shiftiness and an ability to regain speed instantly. He has top-end speed, and his low center of gravity makes him hard to tackle. He has big-play ability that can emerge on any given play.

Given the above skills, Mack has plenty of programs making the push for him, including the hometown Houston Cougars, but he also knows what opportunities lie outside of Texas — including here in the SEC and Ole Miss.

Tonight, Cardae Mack will be joined in the backfield by star running back Tory Blaylock, a member of the class of 2025 who will try to help the Eagles continue their season unscathed.

Rising prospect to watch

Our rising prospect to watch tonight is also out of Atascocita, cornerback Trenton Blaylock, the younger brother of running back, Tory Blaylock.

Trenton is one of the class of 2027’s upcoming talents to watch, helping limit a strong Katy offense to just seven points in Atascocita’s win a few weeks ago. He has a strong future ahead as a corner and the Rebels are taking notice.

We look forward to bringing you more with these Ole Miss targets post game. Kick-off tonight is at 7 p.m. from Turner Stadium in Humble.

Herring-Olvedo sees college football the way championship programs do—from inside the personnel room. Every evaluation, every roster move, every recruiting battle tells a bigger story about identity, culture, and how a program is built to win in December, not just July.

With more than 15 years covering the SEC and the national recruiting landscape, Herring-Olvedo has built a reputation as one of the sport’s most respected personnel-driven voices—blending film evaluation, roster construction, and long-term program vision through a true front-office lens. Her coverage of powerhouse brands like Ole Miss Rebels and Kentucky Wildcatshas consistently gone beyond headlines, focusing instead on the blueprint behind winning programs: development, fit, culture, and recruiting strategy.

That foundation was formed early at Brown University, where she worked in player personnel and recruiting while competing as a student-athlete. Inside those recruiting operations rooms, she learned how elite organizations are truly built—through relentless evaluation, relationship building, projection, and trust in the board. Those experiences shaped the way she studies the game today: part scout, part storyteller, part architect.

Her analysis and reporting have appeared across major platforms including ESPN, NFL coverage spaces, USA Today Sports, and Saturday Down South. She also brought her personnel-minded approach to the airwaves as an on-air analyst for the Wake Up 502 College Football Show on Big X Sports Radio 96.1, where she became known for combining film-room detail with a wider understanding of roster identity and program trajectory.

In 2025, covering the rise of Houston Cougars football under Willie Fritz reignited the part of the sport that first drew her into football—the culture, the edge, the belief that a roster can reshape an entire city. That inspiration led to the launch of Coogs 365 Sports, a platform built to cover Houston athletics through a true scouting and recruiting lens while connecting the emotion of the game to the heartbeat of H-Town.

Now, Herring-Olvedo returns to The Rebel Walk where with an even deeper perspective shaped by years inside recruiting circles, national SEC coverage, and hands-on evaluation experience. Her return brings a familiar voice back to Ole Miss coverage—but with an evolved lens rooted in roster architecture, player development, and the modern realities of building championship-caliber football in the NIL and portal era.

For Herring-Olvedo, recruiting has never been about stars beside a name. It is about identifying competitors, projecting growth, and building a locker room capable of sustaining success. Her philosophy mirrors the best front offices in football: stack traits, trust culture, and never stop building.
