Ole Miss Baseball Swept by No. 15 Kentucky after 15-1 Loss in Game Three

OXFORD, Miss. – (Release) Ole Miss (18-10, 3-5 SEC) dropped Sunday’s series finale to Kentucky (23-4, 7-1 SEC) by a score of 15-1.

The Wildcats had two home runs and 12 hits to secure the sweep against the Rebels in Oxford.

Gunnar Dennis started on the mound for the Rebels. Dennis earned two outs for Ole Miss but allowed five runs before Josh Mallitz took over for Dennis to get the final out of the first inning.

Kentucky scored five runs in the first inning and recorded four hits to take the early 5-0 lead.

The Wildcats found fire in the fourth inning, recording five runs on one hit and advancing the score 10-0 heading into the bottom.

Ole Miss fought to find momentum in fourth. Jackson Ross started the inning with a walk, Ethan Lege singled to center field to advance Ross. Ethan Groff then grounded out to advance Ross to home plate earning the Rebels solo run on the day.

Kentucky persisted, scoring another run on a lone homer in the fifth inning, moving the score 11-1.

The sixth inning was quiet for both teams and the Wildcats added four more runs to the board in the seventh inning.

Ole Miss had two hits in the seventh but struggled to string together any runs to end the weekend.

The Rebels will now look to Memphis for a midweek matchup on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT.
