Women’s Basketball Rolls Past Kentucky, as Yolett McPhee-McCuin Earns 100th Win at Ole Miss

LEXINGTON, Ky. – (Release) For the second time this week, Ole Miss women’s basketball sent its opponent into a tizzy, rolling past Kentucky 75-45 as head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin earned her 100th win at Ole Miss. The 30 point victory over the Wildcats tied Ole Miss’ largest SEC win on the road since 2006.

The three headed monster of Marquesha DavisMadison Scott and Kennedy Todd-Williams was back for Ole Miss (21-7, 11-4 SEC) in its fifth consecutive win over Kentucky (11-18, 4-11 SEC). The trio combined for 38 points, with Scott leading the way with a game-high of 16 points.

In a collective win where McPhee-McCuin became the second head coach at Ole Miss to reach the 100-win mark, the Rebels dished out 20 assists as a team for an SEC-high this season. Dictating and disrupting Kentucky, Ole Miss held its 10th opponent of the season to under 50 points.

Snagging 49 rebounds as a team, Todd-Williams led Ole Miss with eight and dished out four assists. For the seventh time this season, Scott dished out five or more assists, ending her night with six dimes.

Two smooth jumpers from Scott put the Rebels in motion, starting off the game with hot hands beginning on a 12-3 run in the opening five minutes. Flexing its defensive muscles, Ole Miss forced seven Kentucky turnovers within the first quarter to get off and rolling with a hot start at 20-7.

The scoring burst continued into the second, as Singleton scored six points in the quarter alone. Restricting the Wildcats to multiple minute long scoring droughts, the Rebels extended their advantage of as many as 20 within the first 20 minutes. While the Rebel pace slowed down, Ole Miss led by 15 at the break at 37-22 at the half.

Scott continued to fend off the Wildcats as she scored the six first points of the half for Ole Miss, as UK worked to cut into the Rebel advantage. Flipping a switch, Ole Miss took off on a 17-0 run and locked it down defensively at the opposite end to start to close the door on Kentucky. Holding the Wildcats scoreless the final five minutes of the quarter, the Rebels extended its hold by 60-32 heading into the fourth.

Fighting off the Wildcats from scoring well into the final quarter, the Rebel bench provided reinforcement en route to scoring 23 points on the night. In a game where Ole Miss never trailed, the Rebels went on to defeat the Wildcats for the fifth straight time, 75-45.

Ole Miss heads back to Oxford for its last game of the regular season with a senior day match-up against Arkansas on Sunday (Feb. 29). The Rebels celebrate their five seniors at 3:00 p.m. CT, airing on SEC Network.
