Ole Miss wide receiver Dayton Wade to declare for NFL Draft but will play in Peach Bowl: ‘Let’s make history on December 30th!’

OXFORD, Miss. — We spoke with Ole Miss senior wide receiver Dayton Wade Monday morning and he confirmed to The Rebel Walk that he will be declaring for the NFL Draft and will not return for his COVID season of eligibility next year.

Thank you, Oxford, and those who have been supporting me. Let’s make history on December 30th!

Dayton Wade

If Ole Miss (10-2, 6-2 SEC) wins its bowl game against the Nittany Lions, the Rebels would have 11 wins on the season — the most in the history of the program.

As his comment to us implies, Wade will play in the upcoming Peach Bowl against No. 10 Penn State on December 30 in Atlanta, his hometown.

He will get to finish his last collegiate game in front of his family and friends. We asked him what that means to him.

Everything — one last show in a Rebel uniform in front of my family on a big stage in my hometown. A blessing, really.

Dayton Wade

Wade transferred from Western Kentucky before the 2022 season and soon became a fan favorite with his acrobatic catches as well as his charming smile and engaging personality.

Last season in 2022, Wade tallied 27 catches for 309 yards and three touchdowns.

In 2023 thus far, he has notched 52 catches for 769 yards and four touchdowns.

Wade will always be remembered for amazing catches like these:

We wish Dayton the very best as he continues pursuing his dream of playing football at the next level.
