Four-star tight end Caleb Odom, an Alabama commit, will be in Oxford for the second weekend in a row, this time on an official visit

OXFORD, Miss. — ’Tis the season when recruiting is about to take all sorts of twists and turns as we start to inch closer to early signing day. The Rebels are making a run not only in the SEC West but also on the recruiting trail. Ole Miss’ 7-1 record and No. 10 CFP ranking heading into this weekend have many of the top 2024 athletes paying attention. Might one of those be Carrollton (Georgia) tight end Caleb Odom?

He’s returning for a second straight weekend to visit Oxford, and this time it will be on an official visit for the game vs. A&M.

Yes, Odom been committed to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide since mid July. However, that has not stopped the Rebels from remaining diligent in showing him he is very much wanted in Oxford — and not strictly as a tight end but perhaps as a wide receiver.

The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder currently stands as the No. 10 prospect out of Georgia and the No. 4 tight end in the 2024 class.

Ole Miss hosted Odom during the Vandy weekend. After the game, he told us what stood out to him in the win.

Just the way that Coach Kiffin can get all his receivers involved and create opportunities for them. It was also a great environment to be in.

Though he is locked in with the Crimson Tide, Odom is still being pursed by many schools. He has notched 34 receptions for 551 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, helping elevate his team to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in Georgia Region 2AAAAAAA.

“I have appreciated the consistency from them since I have committed,” Odom said of Ole Miss.

They  were my first offer and haven’t stopped recruiting me.

Carrollton is off this week but looks to remain on top next week at home against Harrison in regular season play.

Odoms’ athleticism, speed and natural skillset are indeed the talk of the 2024 class.

When he is not on the field, Odom is also helping care for his little brother Kannon who suffered a traumatic brain injury at birth. Caleb was 15 when Kannon was born, and since that moment it has been evident Caleb’s heart and talent are not just as an athlete but also as a big brother and a strong son.

In an interview with On3, Caleb’s mother, Alden Parrish, commented on her elder son and what he means to her and his little brother.

For a 15-year-old to internalize that and still continue to give it his all and keep going, that’s really powerful. It says a lot about Caleb’s work ethic and it just says a lot about the great kid that he is and the great man he will be. He’s the man of our house. That’s his little brother. He’s always going to be there. Nobody really knows how strong Caleb has had to be just to get to where he is.”

As often as we showcase an athlete’s talent, we must not forget to also share the amazing stories of strength and perseverance like that of Caleb and his family.

Many programs will continue to pursue Odom, but the Rebels are the team to watch as early signing day draws near. We will keep you updated on his visit this weekend.

Lee Ann Herring-Olvedo

Herring-Olvedo sees college football the way championship programs do—from inside the personnel room. Every evaluation, every roster move, every recruiting battle tells a bigger story about identity, culture, and how a program is built to win in December, not just July.

With more than 15 years covering the SEC and the national recruiting landscape, Herring-Olvedo has built a reputation as one of the sport’s most respected personnel-driven voices—blending film evaluation, roster construction, and long-term program vision through a true front-office lens. Her coverage of powerhouse brands like Ole Miss Rebels and Kentucky Wildcatshas consistently gone beyond headlines, focusing instead on the blueprint behind winning programs: development, fit, culture, and recruiting strategy.

That foundation was formed early at Brown University, where she worked in player personnel and recruiting while competing as a student-athlete. Inside those recruiting operations rooms, she learned how elite organizations are truly built—through relentless evaluation, relationship building, projection, and trust in the board. Those experiences shaped the way she studies the game today: part scout, part storyteller, part architect.

Her analysis and reporting have appeared across major platforms including ESPN, NFL coverage spaces, USA Today Sports, and Saturday Down South. She also brought her personnel-minded approach to the airwaves as an on-air analyst for the Wake Up 502 College Football Show on Big X Sports Radio 96.1, where she became known for combining film-room detail with a wider understanding of roster identity and program trajectory.

In 2025, covering the rise of Houston Cougars football under Willie Fritz reignited the part of the sport that first drew her into football—the culture, the edge, the belief that a roster can reshape an entire city. That inspiration led to the launch of Coogs 365 Sports, a platform built to cover Houston athletics through a true scouting and recruiting lens while connecting the emotion of the game to the heartbeat of H-Town.

Now, Herring-Olvedo returns to The Rebel Walk where with an even deeper perspective shaped by years inside recruiting circles, national SEC coverage, and hands-on evaluation experience. Her return brings a familiar voice back to Ole Miss coverage—but with an evolved lens rooted in roster architecture, player development, and the modern realities of building championship-caliber football in the NIL and portal era.

For Herring-Olvedo, recruiting has never been about stars beside a name. It is about identifying competitors, projecting growth, and building a locker room capable of sustaining success. Her philosophy mirrors the best front offices in football: stack traits, trust culture, and never stop building.
