Ole Miss opens as a small favorite over Texas A&M

OXFORD, Miss. — Ole Miss opened Sunday as a 3.5-point favorite over Texas A&M in the two team’s upcoming Saturday matchup at Vaught-Hemingway. That spread has dropped as of Monday afternoon to -3.0.

After defeating Vanderbilt, 33-7, the Rebels move to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the SEC. A&M defeated South Carolina, 30-17, last weekend and sits at 5-3 overall, 3-2 in league play.

Ole Miss has won four games in a row, but will face a challenge with the Aggies, whose record is not necessarily indicative of the amount of four and five-star talent they have across the board, especially on the defensive line. While Ole Miss is No. 4 in the nation in sacks per game with 30 total for an average of 3.75, A&M actually holds the No. 1 spot with 33, for a 4.12 sacks per game average.

Coach Kiffin expects A&M to be a tough opponent again this season.

“This will be very challenging coming up this week against great players and a team that has given us challenges the last two years playing them. It’s a really big game.

Last year, the Rebels defeated Jimbo Fisher’s bunch in College Station, 31-28, behind true freshman Quinshon Judkins’ 205-yard performance. The Aggies had no answer for the freshman All-American, and his 34 carries in that game still remain a career-high.

The Rebels need a win Saturday to keep their SEC West hopes alive, while the Aggies need a win to keep Jimbo’s seat from getting even toastier than it already is following A&M’s 5-7 season last year.

Caesar’s Sports Book as the lines as follows as of Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. Of course, these will likely fluctuate throughout the week as we approach kickoff.

  • Texas A&M money line: +130
  • Ole Miss ATS: – 3.0  (opened at -3.5)
  • Texas A&M ATS: +3
  • Over/Under: 53.5 currently (opened at 54)
