The Rebels offered Townsend soon after he entered the transfer portal, and he chose Ole Miss over Mississippi State, Arkansas and others. The Flint, Michigan native, a guard, played in all 12 games for UAB this past season after redshirting in 2023.
The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder is considered the No 19 interior offensive lineman in the transfer portal. He only gave up one sack in 2024 in 464 pass blocking snaps.
He was a three-star prospect in the class of 2023 at Hamady Community High School and was ranked the overall No. 40 player in the state of Michigan in his class.
Townsend should be able to come in and immediately help Ole Miss, especially in the run game.
