Ole Miss OL commit John Wayne Oliver wins state title, looks ahead to becoming a Rebel: ‘They better get out of the way, because the Lane train is coming’

Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA) of Nashville, Tennessee, won the Division ll-AA State Championship over Boyd-Buchanan Thursday with a final score of 35-13. Leading the way up front for CPA was none other than 2024 Ole Miss commit John Wayne Oliver.

In an interview following the win with On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons, Oliver was nearly speechless.

“It feels great to get the job done, it’s just amazing. No other words to put it,” Oliver said of his state title.

The 6-foot-5, 280-pound Oliver is ranked the No. 16 overall player in the state of Tennessee and the No. 49 offensive tackle in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Despite the conclusion of his high school career, Oliver mentioned just how pumped up he is to be an Ole Miss Rebel next season.

I am so excited, there is no other place I’d rather be going. It’s a small college town, I didn’t want to go somewhere big, I have family in Mississippi, and it’s only four hours away.

The Rebel Walk interviewed Oliver earlier this spring and he shared his feelings on head coach Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss’ pursuit of the offensive lineman.

(Kiffin) is a real chill dude. When you see him on TV, it’s different. In person he was just real down to earth and I liked that and they’ve been recruiting me the most, since March. I wanted to go to a school where I’m wanted the most.

Before celebrating one last time with his high school teammates, Oliver finished the interview with a convincing message.

They better get out of the way, because the Lane train is coming.

In the future, John Wayne Oliver will be a name worth paying attention to, Rebel fans. Hotty Toddy!
