Ole Miss Practice Report, September 12: Rebels work out indoors as they prepare for Georgia Tech

OXFORD, Miss. — The Rebels hit the practice field inside the Manning Center Tuesday following their 37-20 win over Tulane last weekend. As is the custom since the season started, media is only allowed to view the opening few periods, but we can tell you what we saw while there.

Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins was wearing the black non-contact jersey today; however, he was in pads today. He participated in some walk-throughs with quarterback Jaxson Dart, and we do not believe, from what we have been told, that Judkins is hurt.

The wide receiver room continues to be banged up with Tre Harris and Larry Simmons not seen at practice. Zakhari Franklin, Jeremiah Dillon and Jalen Knox were there but wearing the black jersey.

Harris, you’ll recall, scored a touchdown on the first series in the win over Tulane, but was injured soon after, leaving the game and not returning. The week before, Harris set the school record with four touchdowns against Mercer. We do not have any official word on how long Harris will be out, as it is not Ole Miss’ policy to comment on injuries, but we have heard some close to the program suggest he could be back in about a month. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more on Harris.

UTSA transfer Franklin continues to wear the black jersey but seems to be getting closer to being able to play as he was in full pads today. We continue to hear he “could” be back by the Alabama game; however, this is not an exact science when it comes to how quickly one’s body heals.

Fortunately, Ole Miss has the following healthy wide receivers: Dayton Wade, Jordan Watkins, Ayden Williams, Cayden Lee, JJ Henry, Bralon Brown, and Qua Davis (who is no longer in the black jersey).

Tight end Caden Prieskorn was not at practice and was reported to be working out in the training room. He’s recovering from a toe injury that required surgery before the season began. We keep hearing he, too, has a shot at being available by the Alabama game; however, nothing is set in stone there, either. Tight end Hudson Wolfe is also out from injury suffered against Mercer.

Given the injuries in the tight end room, we saw Michael Trigg and Kyirin Heath rotating at tight end today. The Rebels also have true freshman Jayvontay Conner at the position.

Left tackle Victor Curne continued to work with the ones today, while last year’s starter Jayden Williams was working with the twos. Left guard Quincy McGee was also participating with the ones, while Eli Acker worked with the twos.

We’ll bring you more updates as they become available.
